Two of the biggest threats in the NFC will be facing off in tonight’s Sunday Night Football matchup. The Los Angeles Rams will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as Matthew Stafford and company look to improve their record after their strong 8-2 start.
Looking at the odds, the Rams enter as seven-point favorites and hold -355 odds on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Buccaneers hold +280 odds of pulling off the outright upset, with the game total set at 49.5.

Matthew Stafford Over 22.5 Completions (-120)
Like a fine wine, Matt Stafford has only gotten better with age and is in the midst of one of the best seasons of his career. The 37-year-old is posting a 66.0% completion percentage, with 2,557 passing yards, an NFL-best 27 passing touchdowns, and just two interceptions on the season overall. Los Angeles has counted on him to lead a pass-first offense, and Stafford has delivered by leading the team to the sixth-most points per game and ranking eighth in total yards.
He will now set his sights on a Tampa Bay defense that has been vulnerable against the pass. They rank 21st in points allowed and 22nd in yards conceded overall, including 27th in passing yards allowed, 26th in net yards per pass attempt, and 15th in passing touchdowns allowed. Attacking through the air is Los Angeles’ preferred method anyway, and expect them to have this matchup advantage noted.
Stafford is averaging 22.3 completions per game this year. He has thrown for over 22.5 completions in five of the 10 games, including notching as many as 30 in a game. Both these offenses are capable of putting up some major points and count on Stafford to have the ball in his hands plenty. Expect the Rams to continue leaning on their aerial attack and tally over 22.5 completions for the sixth time this year.

Stafford has been especially dangerous around the red zone, where he leads the entire NFL with 27 passing scores on the year. This is especially impressive with just two interceptions tallied and Los Angeles trusting him to make throws in tight windows at a regular rate. The Rams lean on his arm in these crucial spots, with the team ranking 18th in rushing touchdowns while leading the league in passing scores.
The former Super Bowl champion is averaging 2.7 passing touchdowns per game and has thrown for over 2.5 scores in five of the 10 matchups this year. This includes 4+ passing scores in three of the past four weeks, or 15 total over this stretch. Josh Allen had three passing touchdowns against this Buccaneers defense just last week, in addition to three individual rushing scores, and expect the Rams to lean on a similar style of attack.
Look for the intersection of the Rams’ desire to pass and Tampa Bay being weak against this to result in a strong day for Stafford.
