I’m really not the type of football fan that wants to see the same teams over and over and over again in primetime games, but can we take a moment and talk about how underexposed the Rams have been so far this season? If you don’t count the International Series — which I do not — Los Angeles has only had one spotlight matchup in 2025: Thursday Night Football in Week 5 against San Francisco. That’s a surprising lack of acknowledgement for a team that has clearly been the best in the NFL.
All that to say, I’m quite pleased that I’ll be able to settle in on Sunday night and watch the Rams square-off with the Buccaneers with the rest of the world. I’ll also be quite pleased to place a few wagers on the first touchdown scorer in this tilt. Let’s break down the odds on the DraftKings Sportsbook.
Buccaneers vs. Rams First Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets
Davante Adams First Touchdown Scorer (+500)
To say that the Rams like to score through the air would be an understatement. Entering Week 12, Los Angeles is averaging 2.7 passing touchdowns per game — the highest mark in the NFL. However, it’s not just that the team leads the league, it’s that the Rams are a half-touchdown ahead of everyone else. Truly on the level of their own. Through 11 weeks, 77.1% of Los Angeles’ trips to the end zone have been passing scores, while Matthew Stafford’s 22 red zone touchdown passes are seven more than any other QB. So, when the Rams get close to the goal line, it’s not exactly a mystery what Sean McVay has in mind in terms of play-calling. It’s also not really a mystery as to where those passes are headed. Davante Adams has hauled in an NFL-best 10 receiving touchdowns in 2025, while leading all skill-position players in red zone targets (23). If it isn’t broken, why fix it? I assume Stafford and Adams will hook up again on Sunday Night Football — hopefully on the opening drive.
Tez Johnson First Touchdown Scorer (+1800)
With so much uncertainty surrounding the Buccaneers’ running back committee, let’s take a long shot in the aerial attack. There’s no denying Emeka Egbuka (+1000) is Tampa’s No. 1 option in the passing game at the moment. In fact, across the team’s past two contests, Egbuka has more than double the targets (22) and receiving yards (155) of any other player on the Buccaneers’ roster. However, while Tez Johnson has lagged behind his teammate in overall volume, his few opportunities have tended to come in very high-leverage situations. According to PFF, six of Johnson’s eight targets since the beginning of Week 10 have been in the red zone. Not only that, but the rookie seventh-rounder has been able to convert two of those reception chances into a touchdown, with both scores coming against the Patriots two Sundays back. Johnson has become Baker Mayfield’s go-to weapon near the goal line and he’s worth a bet at these odds for this evening’s matchup.
