While there’s a handful of excellent matchups this week, there’s also a pity bowl between the Browns and Raiders. Both teams are out of playoff contention and still have quarterback issues.
It’s an ugly matchup, but the bright side is that Shedeur Sanders will make his debut start.
The Raiders enter as 3.5-point home favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, while the Browns are +160 underdogs. The game’s total is set at 36.5 points. Here is my preview, pick and prediction for Sunday’s Week 12 matchup between the Browns and Raiders.
Browns vs. Raiders Preview
The Raiders drafted Ashton Jeanty early in the first round, which was an expected decision considering Jeanty’s immense talent. The problem is that Las Vegas’ offensive line is far from complete. No matter how skilled Jeanty is, he still needs blockers.
His rookie season looks dull because of this. He’s averaging 3.7 yards per carry and totaling 554 rushing yards and four touchdowns through 10 games. This has been one of the Raiders’ downfalls this season, and it’ll be apparent on Sunday against the Browns.
For all the bad happening in Cleveland, the defense is a bright spot. The Browns have played some competitive games thanks to their defensive unit. The pass rush is better, but the run defense is solid, too, especially against a weak offensive line.
The major question mark is Cleveland’s offense, which is now led by Sanders. The rookie quarterback subbed in for Dillon Gabriel last week and completed 4-of-16 passes for 47 yards and an interception. He’ll get his first start this week against a much easier opponent.
The Raiders’ defense is below average, but because the offense is so weak, the defense will likely be on the field often on Sunday. Whether or not Sanders performs will be the storyline, but Quinshon Judkins is the real threat in Cleveland’s offense. The rookie running back has shown some promise through his first professional campaign.
Browns vs. Raiders Prediction, Pick
These are bad teams that are looking to lose, but someone has to win. Maybe Sanders bounces back with a great debut. Maybe not. Either way, the game should be low-scoring. An already low total is too high. Take the under.
