An exciting Flyweight matchup taking place at UFC Qatar is Alex Perez vs. Asu Almabayev. Perez, 33, is an eight-year UFC veteran and former title challenger, but went 1-3 in his previous five contests. This is the sixth fight of the card. Arman Tsarukyan is facing Dan Hooker in the Main Event of this card in a 155-pound contest.
Here is my prediction for Alex Perez vs. Asu Almabayev at UFC Qatar.
Asu Almabayev To Win By Decision (+110)
This is Perez’s first fight in the last 17 months, with his last contest coming in June 2024. Perez’s previous victory came against Matheus Niucolau in April 2024. After getting knocked out by Manel Kape in March, Almabayev bounced back with an unanimous decision win against Joser Ochoa in July.
Almabayev is the more well-rounded fighter in this fight, but does his best work on the ground, where he averages 4.66 takedowns per 15 minutes. Perez lands 2.03 more significant strikes per minute, but Almabayev lands strikes at an eight percent higher rate.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Perez is a +170 underdog with Almabayev being the favorite at -205. Almabayev does have 12 finishes in his career, but his last four victories have been by decision. With that being the case, getting Almabayev to win by decision at +110 is an excellent value play.
