Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Louisville Cardinals prediction, pick for NCAAM on Friday 11/21/25

Fifth Third Arena doesn’t do calm when a top-ten logo walks in. Louisville arrives 4–0, ranked sixth, and has spent two weeks dropping scorelines that look like an NBA Summer League. Cincinnati meets them with its own 4–0 start, every game at home, backed by one of the nastiest early defensive profiles in the country. This is not a neutral ballroom with sleepy rims; it’s a real road exam for an offense that hasn’t yet been truly squeezed. With favorites winning without covering all over our card last night, I want to be very specific about why this number might be rich. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Louisville Cardinals.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Cincinnati vs. Louisville prediction, preview

Louisville’s sheet is terrifying. They’re scoring 103.0 points and allowing 71.0, a +32.0 margin. They’re shooting 50.0% from the floor, 36.4% from three, and hitting 23.8 free throws per game at 73.6%. They grab 44.3 rebounds with a +9.8 margin, dish 22.5 assists, and still only turn it over 11.0 times with a +6.0 turnover edge and 11.3 steals. KenPom loves them at +25.72 overall with a 125.8 adjusted offense that sits second nationally. There is a very real Louisville -9.5 story that runs through foul trouble for Cincinnati’s bigs and a free-throw avalanche: the Bearcats allow over 30 free-throw attempts per game, commit eighteen fouls, and shoot just 63.4% themselves. If whistles stack against Miller and Thiam, this can blow out in a hurry.

Cincinnati’s counter is defense and environment. They’re at 78.5 points scored and 61.0 allowed, holding opponents to 35.6% shooting and 27.0% from three. They rebound at 41.3 boards per game with a solid positive margin and average 16.5 assists. KenPom has them at +17.42 with a 108.5 adjusted offense and a 91.1 adjusted defense that ranks second nationally. Baba Miller is at 15.8 points and 10.5 rebounds on 66.7% shooting; Moustapha Thiam adds 11.5, 7.8 and 2.3 blocks; Day Day Thomas is giving 14.0 points, four assists and has been nuclear from three. They opened by beating Western Carolina 94–63 with three players scoring 18, then held Dayton to 2-for-26 from deep in a 74–62 win. That defensive spine is real, not just schedule fluff, and they get it in their own city with the crowd leaning black and red.

Louisville vs. Cincinnati pick, best bet

The efficiency gap here isn’t as big as the spread suggests. Louisville’s +25.72 vs Cincinnati’s +17.42 implies roughly an eight-point difference on a true neutral; once you acknowledge a quasi-home bump for Cincinnati, the fair number probably sits closer to -6.5 or -7.5 than -8.5. However, the quantitative spread between these teams once you adjust for schedule and the quasi-home site is smaller than the market number. Cincinnati’s elite defense, rebounding, and FT volume give them multiple ways to hang even if they never feel like the right side watching live. They can survive some Louisville shot-making by winning the glass, grinding out trips to the line, and keeping the Cards out of complete transition chaos.

Louisville is still the more likely straight-up winner, and there is obvious blowout risk if whistles tilt and the threes travel. Mikel Brown Jr. and Ryan Conwell are both sitting at 19.3 points per game, with Brown adding 6.8 assists and hitting 88.9% at the line, while Conwell is over 43% from three and nearly 77% at the stripe. That kind of dual-guard shot-making can turn any Cincinnati scoring lull into a 9–0 run. But with one of the best adjusted defenses in the country, real size, and a de facto home floor, Cincinnati +9.5 still gives us a cushion against an early-season efficiency glow that may be peaking. Baba Miller and Moustapha Thiam have already logged matching 13-point, double-double, four-block lines in the same game, and Day Day Thomas is knocking down 94.4% of his free throws, which reinforces that Cincinnati’s elite defense, rebounding, and FT volume give them multiple ways to hang. I’d rather let that defense and venue work for us than pay full freight on a perfect Louisville start.

Final score: Louisville 84, Cincinnati 78

Best bet: Cincinnati +8.5 (-110) vs. Louisville
