NFL Week 12 Start or Sit: Woody Marks

Woody Marks ($9,200 Showdown) was held to just 6.1 FPTS in last week’s win over the Titans, but the rookie continued to operate as the Texans’ clear lead back over Nick Chubb ($3,200). While logging 65.7% of the snaps, Marks out-carried Chubb 18-3. Marks also out-carried Chubb 2-0 in the red zone, and Marks’ 18 carries and his 85.7% rush share both set season-highs for the back. In the passing game, both Marks and Chubb only saw one target each, but Marks ran 17 routes to Chubb’s eight. Marks has now seen more than double the touches of Chubb in back-to-back games.

While Chubb began the season as Houston’s starting running back, this is now clearly Marks’ backfield. After disappointing versus Tennessee last week, the 24-year-old is in a terrific bounce back spot this Thursday vs. the Bills.

Buffalo is a true run funnel defense, as it is giving up the eighth-fewest yards per pass (6.2), but the second-most yards per rush this season (5.4). As you can see, attacking the Bills on the ground is much easier than through the air and, on a weekly basis, running backs are flourishing when facing Buffalo. Just in the last two weeks, the Bills have allowed De’Von Achane to rush for 174 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries (43.5 FPTS) and Sean Tucker to rush for 106 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries (37 FPTS).

The Bills are allowing the most touchdowns to running backs this season (15) and Marks should have one of his best performances of his career in this juicy spot. Marks is a must-start for all formats and backing him to score a touchdown at +125 odds on DraftKings Sportsbook has a ton of merit, as 56% of the touchdowns scored against Buffalo this season have been by a running back.
