A Crown for a King
Efforts in Portland came up short, as the Suns ran away with the game down the stretch, and the benches were emptied. That means that, once again, Luka Doncic has been crowned the King of the Court! Congrats to the Luka bettors, you’ll have a $29 bonus bet coming your way soon.
King Luka?
It was a great late push by Keyonte George, who finished tied for third on the leaderboard at the end of his night, but it was not to be. Luka Doncic was too dominant tonight and leads the field by seven total P/R/A.
Now our sights turn to Portland. Can we get a crazy late rally from Booker, Sharpe, or an unusual suspect? Or will the betting favorite be crowned the winner?
The Inevitability of Luka Doncic
It didn’t even take three whole quarters for Luka Doncic to overtake Steph Curry. With 50 P/R/A, he’s our new leader for King of the Court, and has pulled away to a 14 P/R/A lead over Keyonte George.
There’s a lot of basketball left to be played. But things are looking good for Luka bettors.
Heating UP
Suddenly, our game in Portland has become a lot more compelling. Shaedon Sharpe and Devin Booker both had excellent second quarters to kick this one into gear. Sharpe ended the first half with 25 P/R/A, and Booker came in with 20. That makes Sharpe our fourth player in the night window who is projected to overtake Steph Curry at halftime.
Meanwhile, the battle in LA continues to rage. Keyonte George is tearing apart the Lakers defense, and he’s up to 36 P/R/A with time to play in the third. Luka Doncic has equaled him and then some with 27 points, two rebounds, and nine assists. Both will surpass Steph Curry, barring disaster, but we have questions: who will come out on top? And can they hold off the late-game players?
Battle of Los Angeles
We’ve got a heater on our hands in LA. The Jazz and Lakers are locked in a high-scoring battle; the former powered by Keyonte George, the latter by Luka Doncic.
Doncic, our projected P/R/A leader for the night, goes into halftime with 27 total P/R/A. Yet he’s being outpaced by Keyonte George and his 30 P/R/A. The Jazz are also getting a crucial 26 P/R/A from Lauri Markkanen. On this current pace, all three would easily surpass Steph Curry for the top spot on the leaderboard.
Elsewhere, it’s a funky game in Portland. The leading scorers between the two teams are Royce O’Neale and Caleb Love at the end of the first quarter. Not exactly the start you wanted if you bet on Devin Booker or Deni Avdija to be KOTC.
Keys To Success
It’s a good start for Luka Doncic, who has nine points and four assists in the early going. But the real story so far is Keyonte George. Utah’s young guard has put up 13 points, three rebounds, and four assists in the first quarter. It’s a continuation of his explosive offensive start to the season.
It would be a major upset if Key challenged for the crown, but he’s almost halfway to Steph’s total through one quarter and has a solid lead on Luka. As our last game is about to tip off, don’t go anywhere.
It’s Luka Time
Spurs-Grizzlies, as projected, did not offer serious challengers for the King of the Court. Now we’re on to the main event: Luka Doncic against the Jazz.
Pregame, Doncic’s P/R/A over/under was at 47.5. If he hits that number, he’ll take home another King of the Court crown. But he’s got another star to share the touches with: LeBron James. Can he continue his monstrous stat outputs, or can Lauri Markkanen and the Jazz slow him down?
Don’t forget about Suns-Blazers either. Both Devin Booker and Deni Avdija were in the top five of projected P/R/A going into tonight’s slate. We might have a banger of a finish tonight.
Curry Barely Survives
It went right down to the wire, but Steph Curry remains on top of our King of the Court contest with two games to go. Jalen Johnson had a late three-point attempt that would have tied him with Steph, but it rattled off the iron, and he finished at 43 P/R/A. Cade Cunningham was close behind with 41. Curry, sitting at 46, remains our leader.
The Nets and Celtics game had some challenge from the Boston backcourt, but they fell short. Nobody in the Grizzlies-Spurs game is close to Curry as that game winds down. We’re left to the two night games to see who can pull this off, and all eyes will be on Luka Doncic.
The Mark Is Set
It wasn’t an explosive fourth quarter for Steph Curry, and his co-star Jimmy Butler made up a lot of ground, but Steph remains the leader on our board with 46 total P/R/A. If that number holds, he’d net a cool $334 bonus bet.
However, we have some instant heat on his back. Jalen Johnson and Cade Cunningham are going tit-for-tat; Johnson has 39 P/R/A, while Cade has 37. There are six minutes to go in that fourth quarter. Can either of those rising stars in the East catch Curry?
Stretch Time for Steph
It’s the end of the third in Orlando, and Steph Curry is preparing to put his final stamp on this game. Through three quarters, the two-time MVP has a grand total of 44 P/R/A, comfortably leading our field.
Curry is 18 P/R/A clear of the field, but the second halves are starting in the 8:00 games. Buckle up for an exciting stretch run.
Cade Rising
Steph Curry is still crushing our leaderboard, but there are some great up-and-comers in the 8:00 ET slate. Cade Cunningham put up a healthy 10/6/8 line at halftime, on pace for yet another triple-double. Payton Pritchard matched him with 24 P/R/A at the half against the Nets. Sitting just behind them are Jalen Johnson at 23, Michael Porter Jr. at 22, and Anfernee Simons at 19.
Steph is setting the pace with 40 total P/R/A halfway through the third quarter. But he’ll have to sustain his torrid pace if he hopes to keep the lead.
Early Night Night?
During pregame, Steph Curry’s P/R/A line was hovering around 35. At halftime, he’s already at 32 against the Magic. Curry put up 22 points, three rebounds, and seven assists. He’s nine total P/R/A clear of anyone else in the field, with Jimmy Butler coming in second place. Appropriately, Steph set a bit of NBA history against the Magic.
Looking at the two 8:00 ET tip-offs, Jalen Johnson of the Hawks and Payton Pritchard of the Celtics had great early starts. We’ll keep a close eye on those two as those games move towards halftime. Meanwhile, make sure you don’t miss the Steph show in the second half.
Big Scoring in Orlando
It’s not just Curry getting off to a great start in Orlando. Desmond Bane and Jimmy Butler have heated up early, putting a challenge to Curry’s P/R/A line and becoming the early leaders in our pool.
Keep an eye on this game as the rest of our six-game slate starts to tip off.
Curry Flurry Early
Though not one of our projected leaders for P/R/A on the night, Steph Curry is heating up early in Orlando. We all know Steph can go nuclear; just ask the San Antonio Spurs, who endured two 40-bombs from Chef Curry last week.
It’s early to get on totals counting, but Steph has 8/2/2 halfway through the first quarter. Keep some tabs on him.
