Captain’s Picks
Jahmyr Gibbs ($15,900 CP): It’s not point chasing when the stars do it. Gibbs won’t likely repeat his Week 10 performance. No one should expect 41.2 fantasy points, but maybe they should. Gibbs scored 39 two weeks earlier. Green Bay has one of the best run defenses in the NFL. Selecting Gibbs isn’t risk-free. Every offensive pick can and should be scrutinized. There isn’t an obvious captain, so the obvious captain is the obvious captain. Gibbs scores fantasy points. He’s no stranger to the endzone of big plays.
UTIL Plays
Ross Dwelley ($300): How cheap should fantasy players go? If they dwell deep in the well with Dwelley, then they can virtually roster all of the studs. That may be going too deep. The right level of value may be Brock Wight. With Sam LaPorta out, tight end is up for grabs in Detroit’s lineup. The start should go to Wright, but he was limited in practice this week. This pick requires monitoring the Sunday afternoon injury report, or just skip it entirely because the Eagles are good against tight ends.
Dallas Goedert ($5,600): Tight ends are always an option on SNF DFS Showdown Slates on DraftKings. They’re cheaper than receivers and score touchdowns. That’s what it’s all about. The winning lineup has all of the touchdowns and productive value. Goedert checks two boxes. He is one of the most likely touchdown scorers, and his point-per-dollar production is among the best in the small player pool.
Jalen Hurts ($10,400): This isn’t prime Hurts. On a main slate, Hurt would need to be modestly priced to be in the conversation. Showdown Slates are a different story. Hurts’ price feels high based on his performance. Trust the stats, not the story. This is DFS. Hurts has eclipsed 19 fantasy points in eight of 10 contests this season. He does a little of everything and, most importantly, scores touchdowns. The last part is critical on Showdown Slates. It’s a zero-sum game. When Hurts scores a touchdown, that’s one less chance for other players to score a touchdown. It’s a two-for-one.
Fades
A.J. Brown ($8,000): There are stats and narratives. A lot of DFS players will roster Brown on Sunday night based on one idea: the squeaky wheel narrative. Brown is complaining, so the Eagles will scrap their game plan to protect the long-term morale of one player while also sacrificing team morale. Let the guy read a book on the sideline. He hasn’t been producing, end of story.
The Outcome
This should be a great matchup. It could be a slug-it-out back and forth or a shootout. The Eagles have the home-field advantage, but the Lions seem to be headed in the right direction. It’s the Lions’ turn. This is their year.
