It has been a hectic day of NFL football littered with injuries and thrilling results. The Sunday slate will conclude with an NFC battle between the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles. A.J. Brown and company have hit a bit of turbulence with their offensive production, but still enter with a 7-2 record and all goals still in sight.
The Eagles are narrow 2.5-point favorites and hold -155 odds on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Lions are +130 with the game total set at 46.5 points.

A.J. Brown Over 4.5 Receptions (+104)
The Eagles’ offensive attack has not quite hit their stride yet this year and Brown would be the first person to tell you this. The star wide receiver has created quite a stir for some direct criticism on a Twitch live stream and several other public media platforms. While it is fair to be critical of how he is expressing the message, Brown has a point in what he is saying. Philadelphia is 30th in passing attempts and 25th in passing yards on the season. While the Eagles’ identity has been as a run-first offense, finding more balance would be best for all parties.
Brown has tallied 31 receptions on 54 targets for 408 yards and three touchdowns. These are career-low marks for the three-time Pro Bowler and he also is coming off a season-low 77.8% offensive snaps last week.
Closed mouths do not get fed and Brown is making it crystal clear that he is still hungry. All the drama aside, this is a matchup that the Eagles will need Brown’s skillset. Philadelphia squeezed by with a 10-7 victory over the Packers last week, but will need to put more points on the board against a Lions team that ranks second in the league in scoring at 31.4 points per game. They do, however, rank 13th in opponents points allowed and 12th in passing yards conceded.
Even amid the disappointing season, Brown has tallied over 4.5 receptions in four of the eight games. He is averaging 3.9 receptions and 6.8 targets per game. Count on Philadelphia to need to attack through the air at a more frequent rate than has been the case over the past few weeks. The game script will require the passing attack, and Brown will be hungry to capitalize on these chances. Look for him to record over 4.5 receptions for the fifth game this season and hopefully feel a bit better about the direction of the team.

One area where Brown should especially be dangerous is around the end zone. Detroit ranks 27th in passing touchdowns allowed on the season with 13 already conceded to opposing wide receivers.
Brown has tallied 25 receiving touchdowns over the past three seasons while in Philadelphia. He has only been targeted four times in the red zone this year and twice inside the 10-yard line. These are well below what is expected for one of the better one-on-one threats in the NFL. Jalen Hurts still trusts him in deep ball opportunities and this should be expected to be a part of the attack tonight.
For better or for worse, Browns’ comments have stirred quite a conversation about the direction of the Eagles’ offense. Detroit scored 44 points last week against the Commanders, have put up as many as 52 in a game this season, and scored 30+ points in five of its nine games. Philadelphia needs to put points on the board to get the desired results, and Brown remains one of their top offensive talents. Expect some feelings to be patched up and for the 28-year-old to reach the end zone for the fourth time this year.
