Oregon Ducks vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers prediction, pick for CFB Week 12 on Friday 11/14/25

Oregon’s season has shifted from fireworks to forge. The last two weeks demanded patience, ballast, and fourth-quarter conviction. Now comes a short-week test against a rested Minnesota side that keeps finding sacks and narrative oxygen. The Ducks carry playoff leverage and a bruised receiver room; the Gophers carry a bye and road scars. Below is my prediction for CFB Week 12’s football game between the Oregon Ducks and the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Oregon vs. Minnesota prediction, preview

Oregon ranks ninth nationally at 38.7 points per game and piles up 471.6 yards per game. The ground is the metronome: 239.7 rushing yards per game, sixth in the country. Dante Moore has stayed efficient and clean—70.5% completions, 19 touchdowns to five interceptions—behind a front that has allowed just 11 sacks. Minnesota supplies a legitimate counterpoint with 32 sacks (Big Ten-best 3.56 per game), including nine against Wisconsin and seven against Michigan State. That’s real disruption, but it meets an Oregon line that wins early downs and a run game that blunts edge heat. Minnesota’s own profile is narrow: 313.1 yards per game (bottom-tier nationally), only 109.8 on the ground, and 23.8 points per game. Drake Lindsey sits at 62.2% with 1,743 yards and a 10–6 ratio, and his deep-ball success hovers near 20.6%. That’s not built for chase mode against an elite pass defense allowing 126.1 passing yards per game and 5.3 yards per attempt.

The counterargument is situational and weather-tinted. Minnesota is off a bye, Oregon’s receiver group has been dinged, and the last two Duck wins were grimy: 21–7 over Wisconsin and 18–16 at Iowa. A low total compresses margin and invites dog value if the Gophers’ rush package steals series. I’m not buying it. You can still run at Minnesota: they sit 81st in success rate versus the rush and 63rd in opponent EPA per rush. Oregon’s trio turns doubles into explosives without courting turnovers—Noah Whittington at 8.1 yards per carry, Jordon Davison at 6.8 with ten touchdowns, and Dierre Hill Jr. at 9.3. Add Oregon’s middle-eight dominance—the Ducks allow only 2.1 second-quarter points per game—and the spot tilts toward a controlled pull-away rather than a four-quarter coin flip. Minnesota’s road data matters, too: 0–3 away with 41–3 at Iowa and 42–3 at Ohio State, outscored 83–6 in those trips.

Minnesota vs. Oregon pick, best bet

From a market lens, the spread is hefty because the leverage points are lopsided. Minnesota is 2–6–1 ATS entering this week and 0–3 ATS on the road; Oregon sits 4–5 ATS with four unders in the last six. Recent Oregon unders reflect defensive suffocation and rain, not fragility. The look-ahead to USC is real, but margin protection doesn’t require deception. It requires volume on the ground, a modest play-action menu, and field position secured by a defense allowing just 239.3 total yards and 13.8 points per game. Oregon’s ball security also travels: seven giveaways all season, with 13 defensive takeaways. In the red area, the Ducks convert at an 86.5% clip; Minnesota’s red-zone defense has allowed scores at an 86.2% rate. That math favors steady separation.

Game script should read like this. Oregon should lean into duo and inside zone from 11, with selective 12 to blunt edges. Motion should stress Minnesota’s rules and widen cutbacks. Moore should live in RPO glance and quick game; I expect 24–28 attempts unless chased. When the Gophers widen to survive, Oregon should layer flood and the deep cross without forcing heroics. Defensively, the Ducks should fit the run with numbers and spin simulated pressure on passing downs. That should bait Lindsey—20.6% deep-ball success—into late throws against a unit allowing 5.3 yards per attempt. Minnesota should ride Ijeboi and Taylor, then hunt Brockington on slants for third-and-manageable. But 30.0% fourth-down conversion and 313.1 yards per game shouldn’t sustain a chase on the road. With Oregon’s middle-eight edge—2.1 second-quarter points allowed—I expect a two-score runway by half. From there, 239.7 rushing yards per game should salt possessions while a 126.1-yard pass defense closes the air.

I’m laying it with the Ducks. The trenches, the middle-eight, and the rush-efficiency gap point to separation, not drift.

Final score: Oregon 38, Minnesota 10.

Best bet: Oregon -25.5 (-105) vs. Minnesota
