Ohio State Buckeyes vs. UCLA Bruins prediction, pick for CFB Week 12 on Saturday 11/15/25

November lights in Columbus ride low over the Horseshoe as Ohio State’s season tightens into real judgment. UCLA walks into that bowl carrying a 3–6 record, a bruised roster, and an interim voice still learning volume. Across the field, Ryan Day shepherds an unbeaten group that has heard every compliment and still hears last January’s noise. This isn’t just a number on a board; it’s a check on whether Ohio State still loves the work. Below is my prediction for CFB Week 12’s football game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the UCLA Bruins.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Ohio State vs. UCLA prediction, preview

Ohio State lives on structure more than splash. The offense stays patient, trusting freshman quarterback Julian Sayin to replace hero shots with relentless eight and twelve yard work. They own a success rate north of fifty six percent, passing above sixty two, with adjusted completion over eighty percent. They score around three and a half points per drive while snapping the ball every thirty one seconds. That drag on tempo lets their efficiency stack quietly, drive after drive, instead of chasing fireworks. Protection is almost unfair; pressure arrives on fewer than one in ten dropbacks, with blown blocks living in elite territory. That clean platform lets Jeremiah Smith and the receivers win with routes, not chaos, while Bo Jackson’s patience profits underneath. The run game stays efficient instead of overloaded, living around five yards a carry with positive down-and-distance math. All that rhythm pairs with a defense allowing 7.2 points, 211.6 yards, and barely 3.8 yards per snap. Opponents see almost nothing explosive between the numbers, and red-zone trips usually shrink into field goals.

UCLA walks in with a ground game that grades well on success rate and yards per carry. Almost every other metric screams strain; twenty point four per game and modest efficiency on barely three hundred forty yards. They sit outside the top hundred in passing efficiency, finish drives inconsistently, and still lean on their quarterback’s legs. The line stacks penalties and blown assignments, leaving Nico Iamaleava hit often and wideouts living on contested throws. Defensively, they allow 30.7 points, 376.7 yards, 191.1 rushing, with third-down stops buried near the national cellar.

UCLA vs. Ohio State pick, best bet

If you want the UCLA case, you start with Nico’s legs and a red-zone profile that refuses to blink. He averages real yardage on keepers, turns broken plays into conversions, and gives you nine or ten honest points. UCLA’s schedule has bitten hard, and Tim Skipper’s team already stole a Saturday from Penn State outright. Meanwhile, Ohio State just missed a big cover at Purdue and sits two weeks from Michigan, which still matters. If Day throttles tempo early, protects stars, and leans on depth, the margin can land in the thirties, not forties. There is also garbage time reality; if this bloats to 35–3, second units invite one cosmetic touchdown drive. That path asks Nico to survive, UCLA’s backs to break a tackle or two, and Ohio State to accept boredom.

The market hangs Ohio State around -31.5 with a total near 47.5, implying something like 39–8 on raw math. The Buckeyes sit 7–2 against the spread, with four wins by at least thirty two points already on the sheet. UCLA sits 3–6 against the number, dragging a defense that ranks near last in success rate, pressure, and third-down answers. I respect the cover angle built on tempo, Nico’s improv, and Day’s tendency to close the playbook once comfortable. I still want the superior structure, trench edge, and explosive differential, so I’m betting Ohio State -31.5 in this spot. I expect something like Ohio State 42, UCLA 10, with the Buckeyes clearing the number before fourth-quarter rotation noise.

Ohio State will open with its usual calm, will lean on eleven personnel, and will probe UCLA’s light boxes. Sayin will punish soft rotations with quick-game throws, and spacing will keep early downs ahead of schedule all night. The Buckeyes will stretch the field horizontally first, then play-action will find Smith once safeties will respect the run. Defensively, Patricia’s front will squeeze interior gaps, and simulated pressure will attack UCLA’s protections without reckless blitz volume. Edges will close rush lanes, spies will track Iamaleava’s scrambles, and coverage will rally to limit yards after contact. UCLA will chase spacing with quarterback runs and option looks, but long-yardage downs will tilt hard toward scarlet.

As the night deepens, Ohio State will lean heavier on the ground, and fresh backs will hammer a tired front. The final stretch will bleed clock more than style points, yet the accumulated efficiency will still cover.

Final score: Ohio State 45, UCLA 10.

Best bet: Ohio State -32.5 (-105) vs. UCLA
