Saturday features another solid college hoops slate, including an afternoon game that I’m very intrigued by. Clemson travels to the Nation’s Capital to go against a Georgetown squad that’s been significantly better than the metrics suggested heading into the season.
Let’s breakdown a college basketball pick for Clemson vs. Georgetown on Saturday.
Clemson vs. Georgetown (Saturday – 12:00 p.m. ET)
If you use any metrics sites to handicap games, many of them will tell you that the Hoyas are overmatched in this contest. They told you the same thing last Friday night when the Hoyas went to College Park to face Maryland — a game Georgetown won by double digits as an underdog.
I don’t think the market has caught up on just how good the Hoyas may be. KJ Lewis, the transfer from Arizona, has been the leader for Georgetown, and a complete stud on both sides of the ball. Malik Mack returns to provide stability at point guard for Ed Cooley’s squad, and the rest of the roster has been extremely balanced and versatile.
Outside of the big upset win at Maryland, the Hoyas also went into Kentucky for a preseason scrimmage and took down the Wildcats by 14 points. I’m of the mindset that this team is among the most undervalued in the country, and will continue to play on them until I’m proven wrong.
Clemson has done nothing but smash lower level competition in the early going. However, this is a young team and the Tigers are yet to go on the road. Georgetown has no business as the underdog here, and I believe the Hoyas collect another outright win.
College Basketball Pick: Georgetown +3 (-110)
