What happened to Jalen Brunson? Injury update 11/13/25

UPDATE: Brunson has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 ankle sprain. He will miss Friday’s game with status TBD after that.

Jalen Brunson played 37 minutes on Wednesday in the team’s 124-107 loss to the Orlando Magic, contributing 31 points, three rebounds, and six assists. With less than two minutes left in the game, Brunson eluded the full-court pressure and attacked the paint. Unfortunately, he took a hard foul and rolled his right ankle in the process.

Brunson was able to shoot the free throws, but then immediately headed to the locker room. After the game ended, he was seen leaving MSG in a walking boot and on crutches.

The Knicks next play on Friday at home vs. the Miami Heat. After that, they play the Heat again in South Beach.

If Brunson is out for an extended period of time, then Miles McBride would be the likely candidate to enter the starting lineup, but there’s uncertainty since Brunson has not missed a game yet this season, and Mike Brown is only 11 games into his Knicks coaching tenure.

With Brunson off the court this season, Karl-Anthony Towns leads the Knicks with a 30.3% usage rate, while OG Anunoby has seen the biggest usage rate bump of 5.39% to 26.05%.

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.
