UPDATE: Ja Morant has been ruled out tonight vs. the Celtics.

Ja Morant is officially listed as questionable for tonight’s matchup between the Memphis Grizzlies and Boston Celtics due to right ankle soreness. This adds another chapter to the turbulent stretch for the two-time All-Star.

Morant played 33:32 of game time in last night’s loss to the New York Knicks, finishing with 16 points, 10 assists, and eight turnovers on 4-for-14 shooting from the field. If he is to miss, this would be the first matchup missed due to injury this year, although he was held out of the November 2nd matchup with the Raptors due to a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.

Across the 11 games he has played, Morant is averaging 18.9 points, 8.1 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game. This marks his lowest scoring output since his rookie season. The Murray State product is also shooting a career worst 35.2% from the field. Across his past five games played, Morant has tallied 29 turnovers compared to 25 made field goals.

His status will continue to be one to monitor ahead of tonight’s matchup with the Celtics and moving forward. Tensions are high between Morant and the Grizzlies organization and the former Rookie of the Year has not been shy to let these feelings be known. The Grizzlies currently sit in 11th place in the Western Conference following their 4-8 start to the year.

The Celtics enter this matchup as 7.5-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Grizzlies hold +240 odds of pulling off the outright upset with the game total set at 229.5.
