Things just keep getting worse and worse for Bradley Beal. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the former All-Star will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery for a fractured hip.
Considering that the second-year in Beal’s current contract with the Clippers isn’t guaranteed, it’s very possible that we’ve already seen the guard play his final game for Los Angeles. Needless to say, the short tenure didn’t go all that well. In six starts, Beal averaged just 8.2 points on 37.5% shooting. Ironically, Beal’s last appearances came November 8 against the Suns, with the 32-year-old scoring 12 points and dishing out three assists.
Beal has not made an All-Star Game since all the back in 2020-21, when he led the NBA in field goal attempts per contest as a Wizard (23.0) and registered a jaw-dropping 31.3 points per night. It’s all been downhill from there, though, culminating in 2024-25, when Beal was removed from Phoenix’s lineup mid-season in what was an all-around disappointing campaign for a team with high expectations.
Speaking of underwhelming franchises, the Clippers are 3-7 to start 2025-26, with the fifth-worst defensive rating in the league (118.3). With Beal on the court, Los Angeles was outscored by 9.9 points per 100 possessions with a defensive rating of 129.5. With Beal now out long-term, expect to keep seeing a lot of Kris Dunn in the Clippers’ rotation.
