Monday night on Raw, John Cena made his final appearance in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. He came out, addressed the crowd, and was then was interrupted by Dominik Mysterio. One title that alluded Cena throughout his career was the Intercontinental Championship, and he delivered a picture-perfect moment in Boston as he beat Mysterio in an impromptu match to win the IC title.
John Cena is the 22nd Grand Slam Champion in WWE history, having won the United States title, WWE title, Tag Team title, and finally the Intercontinental Championship. After losing the Undisputed Championship to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, it seemed like Cena’s days with gold were numbered. But now Cena holds the Intercontinental title, entering his final three appearances in WWE, shaking up the last month of his retirement tour.
What will John Cena do next?
Cena’s next stop on his retirement tour is to The World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, for his final appearance on Monday Night Raw. Even though Cena isn’t scheduled for a match next week on Raw, it is likely that we could see Cena in competition once again, as his in-ring career is quickly winding down.
It is currently unknown what Cena will be involved in for Survivor Series. The War Games match has been set between The Vision (Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Logan Paul) vs. CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso. With each team needing two members, a logical choice would be for Cena to team with Punk, Rhodes, and Uso, creating an elite group for Cena’s final premium live event.
After Survivor Series, Cena will face the winner of “The Last Time is Now Tournament”. The first round matchups are still ongoing, but it seems like Gunther is an early favorite to face Cena in his final match.
