NFL Week 10 Start or Sit: RJ Harvey

RJ Harvey ($5,600) has been outstanding the last two weeks, scoring 24.1 FPTS vs. the Cowboys and 16.6 FPTS vs. the Texans, making him the No. 5 running back in season-long fantasy during this time.

While the rookie’s recent outbursts are great on paper, when we take a deeper dive, Harvey’s usage hasn’t changed much and isn’t encouraging. During this two-game stretch, the back is only logging 29.8% of the snaps and he has only seen nine scarries, which is only 21.9% of the running back carries for the Broncos. As a receiver, Harvey has seen a target on 24% of his routes and he has hauled in all six of his targets, but he has only run a route on 36% of his team’s drop backs.

Plus, Harvey has scored three touchdowns the last two weeks and these scores have accounted for 44% of his fantasy production. If you remove the touchdowns, Harvey is only scoring 11.4 FPTS per game during this stretch.

The 24-year-old is due for some serious negative regression as a touchdown scorer, and given Harvey sees more usage as a receiver than as a rusher, Thursday’s matchup vs. Raiders doesn’t setup well for him. Denver is a 9.5-point home favorite for this contest on DraftKings Sportsbook, so the Broncos should throw the ball at a very low rate.

Harvey is a viable FLEX play this week, but he is nothing more than that and you likely have a better option on your roster. While it seems crazy to say given his results the last two weeks, sitting RJ Harvey is the right move for most formats.
