Given that Bowers got hurt in Week 1 and played through the injury for a few weeks before getting shut down, last Sunday was the first full game of the season that he was at full health — and his usage reflected that.
Bowers led the Raiders with a season-high 34.2% target share while running a route on 81% of his team’s dropbacks. Bowers saw this immense workload, even with Jakobi Meyers active for the game. Meyers then got traded to Jacksonville ahead of the deadline. Meyers was handling a 22.4% target share for Las Vegas this season, and with him out of the picture, Bowers is the team’s clear No.1 pass catcher. He should see incredible usage for the rest of the season.
Bowers should see double-digit targets again tonight vs. the Broncos, and while Denver features one of the best defenses in the league, the Broncos have been average against tight ends, giving up the 15th-most receiving yards to the position (482). The Raiders should be forced to air it out as 9.5-point road underdogs for this AFC West matchup, and surpassing 69.5 receiving yards shouldn’t be difficult for Bowers.
