The first game of ESPN’s doubleheader this Wednesday night is a juicy matchup between the Timberwolves and the Knicks in Madison Square Garden. The Wolves are 4-3 on the season and 3-1 on the road, while the 4-3 Knicks are 4-0 at home. Minnesota has won the first two games of this road trip, while the Knicks have won their last two games at home after dropping three straight on the road.
In big news on the injury report, Minnesota listed Anthony Edwards (hamstring) as questionable, and he participated in shootaround Wednesday morning. On the other side, Karl-Anthony Towns (illness) was added to the injury report as questionable for the Knicks. Stay tuned for those stars’ final status, but other than that, it looks like fairly normal rotations lined up this Wednesday night.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, New York is favored by 3.5 points at home, with the game total set at 227.5 points. In addition to the main game line, DraftKings Sportsbook has numerous player prop bets for Wednesday night’s matchup. In this post, I’ll take a look at a few of my favorites. Let’s dive in.
Best Timberwolves vs. Knicks Player Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Josh Hart 20+ Points + Rebounds + Assists (+111)
Hart has gotten off to a little bit of a slow start this season, although part of that may be due to his limited preseason and reduced minutes due to back spasms and illness. On Halloween, he played only a spooky 15 minutes and had no points, one rebound, and one assist in Friday’s loss to the Bulls.
He bounced back nicely, though, against the Bulls on Sunday, producing 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists for 26 PRA (points, rebounds, and assists). He built on that game Monday against the Wizards, chipping in 12 points, 10 boards and five assists for 27 PRA.
His path to playing time is a little murky with everyone healthy, but if KAT is limited or out, this becomes an even stronger play.
Hart has been inconsistent to start the season, but he still brings the energy and should be ready to make a statement with so many of his former Knicks teammates in town on the other side of this marquee showdown.
Getting plus odds on this player prop feels generous after how good and involved he has looked in his last two games.
Donte DiVincenzo 14+ Points (-107)
While DiVinenzo’s 3+ threes at -155 is a safer play, I think he’ll get at least 14 points in his first game back at Madison Square Garden since he was traded to the Timberwolves as part of the KAT trade.
DiVincenzo had 15 points when he faced the Knicks last December in Minnesota, and he has gotten off to a good start to the season, averaging 15.1 points per game and scoring at least 14 points in three straight. In his most recent game, he scored a season-high 25 points while adding nine rebounds and five assists in 30 minutes against the Nets.
All three of his high-scoring games were without Edwards, so he got more usage, but Edwards’ return could actually leave him more shooting space, even if his opportunities are reduced. DiVincenzo had 13 points in the last full game that Edwards played, so it’s definitely possible that he goes over this point total even if Ant goes off in his return.
Since he was such a fan favorite at the Garden in his time with the Knicks, you know he’ll be fired up and ready to roll in his return. That could lead to a huge night or a huge flop, but I think he’ll be able to continue his recent momentum and get at least 14 points in this contest.
Jaden McDaniels over 1.5 3PM (+164)
McDaniels has also helped carry the load with Edwards out, scoring at least 22 points in three of his last four matchups and hitting multiple 3-point shots in each of his last three games.
He also made four 3-pointers alongside Edwards in the season opener and is averaging 1.7 3-pointers made in his seven games this season. He is shooting an impressive 46.2% from long range this season, and since he doesn’t take a ton of 3-point attempts, it’s not a sure thing that he’ll hit multiple threes in this contest (which is why the odds are so great).
Edwards made multiple threes the last time he faced the Knicks at Madison Square Garden and both times he faced them last season.
It’s a coin-flip prop in my mind, so getting it at +164 is great odds in Wednesday night’s game. If you’re looking for a player prop on the other side with similar odds, Jordan Clarkson to go over 1.5 3PM is +159. I slightly prefer McDaniels since he gets more time on the floor, but I think both are strong props to consider when assembling your betting card for Wednesday night’s matchup in New York.
