With no Jimmy Butler and no Steph Curry in the lineup, the shots have to come from somewhere. Look no further than one of Golden State’s best contested three-point shooters: Moses Moody.
In last night’s win over Phoenix, Moody drilled five threes on eight attempts. He’s making the case for a starting spot, and will almost certainly be in the first five on the court for Steve Kerr without his main stars. Count on Moody to get his shots up against a suspect Kings defense.
Malik Monk 22+ Points + Rebounds + Assists (-116)
The Golden State Warriors have struggled to contain quick guards with pull-up abilities this season. Steph Curry has quietly improved his defensive game over the years, and his absence puts the slower-footed Brandin Podziemski at the point of attack. With one less exceptional help defender on the court as Butler sits, Monk goes off tonight.
Jonathan Kuminga Under 33.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-118)
Jonathan Kuminga is turning some heads this season. He’s rebounding harder, making better passes, and looking like a legitimate complementary piece to the Golden State stars. Without those stars, he’s going to shoulder a lot of offensive responsibility tonight. But I’m not confident that it raises his statistical output.
A lot of his points have come from cuts, screens, transition outlets, and the two-man game with the stars. Without Steph and Jimmy, he’s going to have more drawn out possessions that end in long midrange attempts or turnovers. All necessary growing pains for the young dynamic forward, but I’m not counting on a big box score night for JoKu.
