Despite not initially being listed on the Knicks’ injury report, Karl-Anthony Towns has been downgraded to questionable for tonight’s contest against the Timberwolves due to an illness. Towns has yet to miss a game in 2025-26.
While Towns is having a down season scoring the basketball — his average of 20.4 points per contest is the lowest since his rookie campaign — the former first-overall pick is pulling down a career-best 13.1 rebound per night. In fact, Towns has registered double-digit boards in every start he’s made. Towns also still ranks second on New York in usage rate (25.6%), serving as the clear No. 2 option behind Jalen Brunson (32.6%).
If Towns were to sit on Wednesday, there’s many different ways the squad could go about filling the big man’s role. Mitchell Robinson would obviously re-join the starting five after resting on the second leg of a back-to-back set against the Wizards, while either Landry Shamet or Josh Hart could start on the wing with OG Anunoby sliding down to power forward. With Towns off the court in 2025-26, Anunoby has seen his usage rate skyrocket to 29.3% and the veteran forward is averaging a robust 1.37 FPTS per minute in those scenarios. With just a $6,600 salary on DraftKings, Anunoby could be the DFS beneficiary of a Towns absence.
