The first two days of the college basketball season are in the books. Wednesday’s college basketball slate features only one ranked team, No. 23 Creighton. Although the Blue Jays are the only top-25 team playing, there are 35 total Division I games on today’s slate.

Creighton -29.5 vs. South Dakota (-112)
After losing their top four scorers from last season, Creighton Head Coach Greg McDermott added seven new players this offseason. The Blue Jays have the 27th-best recruiting class, led by four-star freshman Hudson Greer and five four-star transfers (Blake Harper, Austin Swartz, Josh Dix, Nik Graves, and Owen Freeman).
Creighton beat No. 16 Iowa State and Colorado State in exhibition games before their regular-season opener. Graves had 13 and 15 points in their exhibition games, leading Creighton in scoring in both contests. Creighton begins their season against South Dakota, which lost 81-79 against Utah Tech on Monday.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Creighton is listed as a -29.5 favorite against South Dakota, with odds of -112. Since Creighton has a veteran roster and coach, the Blue Jays have a good chance to post a 30-point victory over a young South Dakota team that has seven freshmen on their roster.
LSU -15.5 vs. Tarleton State (-112)
Although LSU has the 32nd-best overall recruiting class, it boasts the 16th-best transfer class in the country. After a 14-win season, Matt McMahon brought in seven transfers and multiple four-star freshmen.
LSU is a 15.5-point favorite over Tarleton State, and you can back the Tigers at -112. Tarleton State is coming off a 20-point loss to SMU on Monday, as they gave up at least 20 points to three players. Although LSU has a new roster, it should still be able to begin its season with a big victory over a struggling Tarleton State team.
Marquette -25.5 vs. Southern University (-105)
Shaka Smart brought in five four-star prospects while bringing back four players who played 15-plus minutes per contest last season. Marquette beat the Albany Great Danes on opening night by 27 points. Chase Ross, Zaide Lowery, and Damarius Owens led the way with double-digit points for the Golden Eagles.
Marquette played 11 players for at least 10 minutes in their first game and had nine players score five-plus points. The Golden Eagles proved once again that they are dominant at home, and another big performance should be in store for Smart’s team.
