The most-anticipated match of the UEFA Champions League league phase slate has taken a massive turn in the first half of the match. Last season’s champions, Paris Saint-Germain, entered the match tied atop the table with Bayern Munich, with nine points and a +10 goal differential each, and they are meeting now at Parc des Princes in the French capital.
The Bavarians struck first with a Luis Díaz goal in the fourth minute. Paris seemed to have equalized in the 22nd minute through Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, whose deflection of Fabián Ruiz’s shot found the right side of the net. The referee kept his flag down at first, but after VAR review, the goal was overturned and Bayern stayed in the lead.
To add injury to insult, Dembélé walked to the locker room and was replaced by Lee Kang-in. He had previously missed more than a month while dealing with a hamstring injury.
He’s scored five goals and distributed three assists in 12 matches for club and country this season, so PSG could struggle without its main man up front.
Díaz doubled Bayern’s lead in the 32nd minute.
For any Dembélé bettors, because his injury occurred before halftime, he’s covered by DraftKings’ Early Exit program. Bettors who placed a qualifying bet on Dembélé will have their stake refunded as a cash credit, though the bet will settle as a loss.
