After being a common name in trade rumors all season, Rashid Shaheed ($4,600) has been traded to the Seahawks on Tuesday, in exchange for a 2026 fourth- and fifth-round pick, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Shaheed has caught 44 passes for 499 yards and two touchdowns while handling a 21.8% target share for New Orleans this season. The acquisition of the wideout is somewhat surprising for Seattle, as rookie receiver Tory Horton ($4,100) has thrived when given a chance this season and he appeared to possibly just earn himself a starting role for the Seahawks this past Sunday night vs. the Commanders.
With Cooper Kupp ($4,600, hamstring) sidelined vs. Washington, Horton ran a route on a season-high 83% of his team’s dropbacks and he seized the opportunity, catching all four of his targets for 48 yards and two touchdowns, resulting in 20.8 FPTS. Despite only playing 47.2% of the snaps and seeing 22 targets this season, Horton has scored five touchdowns and he is averaging 12.6 YPR.
Given that the Seahawks sent away two draft picks to acquire Shaheed, one would have to assume he operates as Seattle’s No. 2 receiver ahead of Horton and Kupp when he is healthy again. Horton was expected to be a popular waiver wire add this week after his career-best 20.8 FPTS outburst on Sunday night, but with Shaheed now in the mix, Horton’s value sees a notable hit, as he should continue to play a limited role within this Seattle offense. While Horton is still worth stashing on your bench if you have some open roster space, he isn’t a viable fantasy starter going forward, unless one of Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Shaheed suffers an injury and misses time.
