The NBA has a busy Sunday of action with eight games on the schedule, starting in the afternoon when the undefeated Thunder host the winless Pelicans. The evening action includes four games that start at 6:00 p.m. ET and three games in the later wave. Along with picks on the moneyline and against the spread for each contest, DraftKings Sportsbook has plenty of player props to consider, including one of my favorite ways to attack the slate – 3-point props. My top three-point prop bets for Sunday include plays for Kelly Oubre Jr., Scottie Barnes, and Collin Gillespie.
Regardless of the final results, cheering for specific players to hit three-pointers is a fun way to enjoy all the action from the hardwood. Normally, I try to target lower 3-point prop totals so that they can hit quickly, either early or late, without needing lots of build-up. I also usually play these props in a round robin style, so that even if they don’t all hit, they still carry solid returns.
Breaking down the numbers and matchups, here is why I like these three 3-point props on Sunday.
Top 3-point prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Kelly Oubre Jr. over 1.5 3PM (-101)
The Sixers are in a favorable matchup against the Nets on Sunday night. No team in the NBA has given up a better 3-point percentage this season, allowing a 44.7% shooting percentage from long range. They have allowed the sixth-most 3PM per game.
Oubre has started each of the team’s five games this season and is averaging 39.2 minutes per game. He has made multiple three-pointers in each of his games this season, averaging 2.4 3-pointers per contest.
With Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecome, and Quentin Grimes getting most of the attention, the veteran Oubre has been able to play strong defense and chip in a few shots from long range each contest. Joel Embiid (injury management) and Dominick Barlow (elbow) are still out, which should give Oubre plenty of room to step up against Brooklyn.
He hasn’t got off and hit a ton of three-pointers in any one contest but has consistently been able to go over this prop, which makes sense at basic even-money odds on Sunday night.
Scottie Barnes over 1.5 3PM (+130)
Barnes is one of the top scoring options for the Raptors, but since he isn’t known as a three-point specialist his over/under for 3-point prop bets remains relatively low. He leads the team in minutes and has a 24.4% usage rate which is second on the team just behind Brandon Ingram.
Barnes has been more active this season from long range, though, and has made 50% of his attempts this season, going 12-for-24 in his six games. He didn’t even attempt a 3-point shot in the first game of the season, but he made multiple three’s in four straight before going 1-for-4 from long range on Friday ina win over the Cavs in his most recent game.
On Sunday, Barnes has a favorable matchup against the Grizzlies, as he tries to help Toronto fans move on from last night’s tough World Series loss. The Grizzlies have allowed the third-best 3-point percentage and the sixth-most 3-pointers per game so far this season.
Barnes always has a high ceiling as a statsheet-stuffer, and in this matchup, he should be able to produce multiple 3PM on Sunday night at home.
Collin Gillespie over 2.5 3PM (+105)
The 2-4 Suns host the 5-0 Spurs in one of the later games on Sunday night, and they’ll need to pile up plenty of points to keep up with the very productive Spurs this season.
One of the bright spots for the Suns this season has been third-yard guard Collin Gillespie, who has helped carry the load in the early going while Jalen Green (hamstring) has been injured.
Gillespie’s playing time has increased as the season has gone on, and he has made meaningful contributions in the second unit. Gillispie is averaging 25.7 minutes per game with 2.8 3PM on 7.0 3-point attempts per game. Gillespie has attempted at least seven three-point shots in four of his last five games, highlighted by an overtime game in Utah, when he attempted a season-high 12 3-point prop shots.
All those opportunities have led to at least three 3PM in four of his last five games, and in this matchup against the Spurs, he should continue to get the green light.
Picking a player in the second unit to make at least three three’s is always a little bit of a stretch, but with so much volume, I like Gillespie to go over this prop line again on Sunday night.
