Brendan Sorsby is having a spectacular season for Cincinnati. Sorsby ranks sixth in the nation with 20 passing touchdowns and has only one interception. Sorsby has been playing clean, mistake-free football for the Bearcats all season. However, where Sorsby has arguably made his biggest impact is on the ground. Between Sorsby’s great legs and the running back duo of Evan Pryor and Tywee Walker, Cincinnati has a tremendous rushing attack. However, Pryor is out for this game against Utah. That will lead to more carries for Tywee Walker, but also should lead to more called runs for Sorsby.
Utah has one of the best passing defenses in the nation, ranking ninth in defensive EPA/pass. That means Cincinnati will have much more success trying to move the ball on the ground. Utah ranks 104th in defensive EPA/rush, so Sorsby should find success there. He faced a similar matchup in a tough environment away from home in the season opener against Nebraska. In that game, Sorsby only threw for 69 yards, but rushed for 96 yards and two scores. This will be a big rushing game for Sorsby, and he should go for at least 43 yards on the ground.
