Georgia and Florida will meet once again in Jacksonville in what has become known as the World’s Largest Cocktail Party. Both teams come off the bye for this one, with the major unknown coming on the Florida side. The Gators finally cut ties with Billy Napier, following a win over Mississippi State in Week 8. Billy Gonzales take over for now, and has had two weeks to prepare for the Bulldogs.
I expect a strong effort from Florida here, which has a very talented defense, with the “fired coach” narrative generally being a strong angle. However, you usually don’t have to play Georgia the following game. It’ll be strength on strength when Florida’s defense is on the field, as Georgia has been high-flying on offense. I trust the Bulldogs to put up some points in this game.
The unknown will come if Florida can also figure out how to put up some points, going up against a Georgia defense that is much softer than we’ve seen in recent seasons. I’m confident enough in Georgia to get the win here to put them into a moneyline parlay, I just needed to find the right partner to pair them with.
I found that piece in Iowa State. Yes, the Cyclones let me down last week against BYU, but now it’s a desperation spot against an unraveling Arizona State squad. Iowa State has now lost three straight, and is at home catching the Sun Devils at the perfect time. Sam Leavitt has been ruled out for the season, and Arizona State needs its quarterback on the field to compete in games. When Leavitt missed the game at Utah, the Sun Devils lost 42-10, and they also lost last week in the game Leavitt went back out with an injury.
Jeff Sims will be the guy for Arizona State, and he will likely be in a tough spot with Jordyn Tyson injured (Arizona State’s top WR). I’ll pair Georgia and Iowa State together here.
