Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Anthony Davis is injured. We’re just barely into the NBA season and the Mavericks’ injury list is already piling up, with Davis as the latest member, per Shams Charania of ESPN.
The good news for Davis and the Mavericks is that a two-game absence wouldn’t be all that bad. However, calf strains can be particularly challenging, especially for a larger individual like Davis. Complications may arise, and Dallas head coach Jason Kidd may opt for a slow ramp-up to avoid a major injury.
In the short term, Dallas will look to players like Dereck Lively II and P.J. Washington for more minutes and usage. Even Dwight Powell could find himself being used more often. Lively and Washington make for interesting DFS plays with the increase in minutes, and Cooper Flagg gets a bump for the heavier offensive burden.
