The final game on the NBA schedule this Wednesday night is a Western Conference matchup between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Phoenix Suns at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix. The Suns are 1-3 in their first four games, winning their one home game, while the Grizzlies are 2-2 but lost their only road game.
On the injury report, the Suns have ruled out Jalen Green (hamstring) and Dillon Brooks (groin). The Grizzlies will remain without Zach Edey (ankle), Ty Jerome (calf) and Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe), but they have both Vince Williams Jr. (ankle) and Santi Aldama (shoulder) still listed as questionable.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Memphis is slightly favored by 1.5 points, with the game total set at 241.5 points. In addition to the main game line, DraftKings Sportsbook has numerous player prop best for Wednesday’s Western Conference matchup. In this post, I’ll take a look at a few of my favorites. Let’s dive in.
Best Grizzlies vs. Suns Player Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Cedric Coward over 11.5 points (-116)
The Grizzlies have been giving their first-round pick from Washington State the green light in the early going this season. He has been coming off the bench, but has a 17.1% usage rate and has averaged 8.3 field goal attempts per game.
He had 14 points in his NBA debut against the Pelicans last Wednesday and followed that up with 16 points on Friday against the Heat. His best game was last Saturday at home against the Pacers, when he drilled six three-pointers on his way to 27 points. On Monday against the Warriors, he calmed down with just nine points, but overall he has shown enough upside as a scorer to be a good pick to get to at least 12 on Wednesday against the Suns, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points to small forwards in the early going this season.
In a generally high-scoring game with some blowout potential, I think Coward will get at least 12 points regardless of game script.
Mark Williams Points + Rebounds Over 23.5 (-105)
If you want to be more aggressive for better odds, Williams is +334 to get 30+ points and rebounds, and he definitely has that potential as he continues to ramp up to full speed.
Williams has been coming off the bench this season for the Suns, who have carefully been managing the injury-prone big man’s minutes and usage. He didn’t play in the preseason and was limited to 24 minutes in the season opener. He still had six points and 11 rebounds against the Kings, although he did look a little rusty. After sitting out one of the Suns’ games on the second night of a back-to-back last week, he returned to action on Monday with a much bigger workload, pouring in 25 points to go with 11 rebounds in 31 minutes off the bench.
If he gets 25+ minutes again on Wednesday, he should be able to go over this line with at least 24 points and rebounds combined, and you can bet up the ladder with a little extra as well. Keep a close on on the starting lineup as well, since he could move past starter Oso Ighogaro at some point soon if he keeps playing so well without any injury issues.
Williams has proven he can be a stud when he’s healthy, the question with him is always just how healthy he can stay.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Rebounds + Assists over 5.5 (-110)
KCP has brought a veteran presence to the Grizzlies, starting all four of their games this season and averaging 25.8 minutes per game. He has averaged 9.8 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game, and he has hit double-digit points in two of those four games. While his points are an option, I prefer targeting his non-scoring numbers, where he’s a little more consistent. In his four games, He has six, nine, nine, and six rebounds + assists, going over this number in each of his four games in Memphis.
Even if Vince Williams Jr. returns, he’ll likely figure into the bench rotation more than impacting Caldwell-Pope’s minutes and opportunities. If Santi Aldama is out, it could lead to even more work for Caldwell-Pope, who should have no trouble getting at least six rebounds and assists in what should be an up-tempo game in the desert. If you’re looking for something with a little more juice involving KCP, check out the line on him and Grayson Allen combined total threes made at 7+ at +190.
