At long last, Game 3 of the World Series has come to a close. It took eighteen innings, but the Dodgers managed to eke out a marathon 6-5 win. Los Angeles’ victory was made possible by none other than Freddie Freeman, last season’s World Series MVP. The first baseman slugged a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 18th, giving LA a 2-1 series lead.
Every time Toronto took a lead, Los Angeles answered. The Jays went up 4-2 in the fourth and 5-4 in the seventh. However, Los Angeles tied things up almost immediately on each occasion. That was due in large part to Shohei Ohtani, who reached base nine (!) times. In addition, the three-time MVP clobbered two home runs in a dominant performance. As for the visitors, their offense was carried by Alejandro Kirk’s three-run dinger in the top of the fourth.
There’s no rest for the weary during the Fall Classic. Both of these clubs will take the field once again tonight. Taking the hill for Toronto is Shane Bieber, making his fourth start this postseason. The results have been inconsistent for the right-hander. Over 12.1 innings in October, he’s allowed six earned runs (4.38 ERA).
For the Dodgers, it’ll be none other than Ohtani. The two-way terror was electric on the mound last week during the NLCS. Against Milwaukee, he tossed a six-inning, two-hit, ten-strikeout masterpiece. Even for a future Hall of Famer, that stat line will be difficult to replicate. Regardless, Los Angeles will take anything that slows down Toronto’s dominant lineup.
First pitch for Game 4 is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Los Angeles is a -220 favorite at home on DraftKings Sportsbook. Toronto enters this matchup as a +178 underdog. The total is set at eight runs.
