NFL Week 8 is almost in the books, pending the Sunday and Monday night matchups, but the opening odds for Week 9 are up on DraftKings Sportsbook and it’s time to give them a look.
There is one game on Thursday. There are 12 games on Sunday and one Monday night game.
Cleveland, New York Jets, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay have their bye.

Baltimore came out of their bye with a much-needed win, 30-16 over Da Bears. Lamar Jackson missed his third game but there’s optimism that he will return for this one. Miami won only their second game of the season with a 34-10 win over Atlanta. Both defenses have been poor, and the total expects a ton of points to be scored, but funny things happen on Thursday night.

Chicago opened the season with two losses but rebounded by winning their next four contests. Unfortunately, the train was derailed with a 30-16 loss in Baltimore. Now Chicago has to go on the road once again. Joe Flacco for president! Despite losing to the previously winless Jets in Week 8, Flacco has guided the Bengals to 33 and 38 points over the last two weeks. That defense, though.

Minnesota got smacked in Los Angeles by the Chargers last Thursday. Now they have to travel to Detroit to likely get smashed again. At least they will have had a few extra days rest. yah….Detroit is coming off their bye.

Carolina won three straight, but those were over Miami, Dallas and the New York Jets. It was back to reality in Week 8 as they got stampeded, 40-9 by the Bills. Green Bay is playing Sunday night.

The Chargers smashed the visiting Vikings last Thursday. They should improve to 6-3 after this one, then it’s games against Pittsburgh and Jacksonville before their bye. Tennessee went into Indianapolis and limped out with the 38-14 loss to the Colts. The Titans have one win on the season and will likely be in contention for the first pick in the draft.

Atlanta has got to be the strangest team in the league. The offensive core is young and potent while the defense has been built up through the draft. They beat Buffalo in Week 6 but got shut out by the Panthers in Week 3 and lost 34-10 to Miami in Week 8. Shrug. New England is really humming right now, winning five straight, including an impressive win in Week 8, putting up 32 points against a formidable Browns defense.

After winning the first three games of the season, San Francisco has alternated wins and losses since. In Week 8, they went into Houston and lost 26-15. This team has been devastated by injuries. Speaking of injuries, New York lost the game in Week 8 and one of their best offensive players in Cam Skattebo.

There’s a dust storm over the NFL landscape and it’s caused by the Colts, galloping through every opponent. The Colts have lost only one game on the season and just easily dispatched of Tennessee in Week 8. Pittsburgh plays Sunday night.

After losing two of the first three games to start the season, Denver has rattled off five straight, with the latest victim being the Dallas Cowboys. The task is much more difficult this week, as the Texans have one of the better defenses in the league and just held San Francisco to 15 points while containing Christian McCaffrey. The offense has struggled, though, and facing the Denver Broncos defense could have them curl up on the bed and cry.

Both of these teams are coming off their bye. Jacksonville had two tough losses prior to their bye to Seattle and the Los Angeles Rams, but defeated San Francisco and Kansas City the prior two weeks. So there’s potential. The Raiders are truly a Black Hole. The team has two wins on the season and they got skunked, 31-0 in Kansas City before their bye.

Since winning the first two games of the season, Arizona has lost five straight. They are coming off a bye for this one. Dallas got throttled in Denver. Things should be much easier against Arizona.
