The 2025 World Series gets underway on Friday night in Toronto as the Blue Jays host the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers are going for back-to-back titles while the Blue Jays are in the World Series for the first time since 1993, when they won the second of their consecutive titles. It should be a great Series stuffed with superstars, and of course, there are plenty of great player prop bets to play on DraftKings Sportsbook.
The Blue Jays have had the week off since dispatching the Mariners in Game 7 of the ALCS. The Dodgers have been off even longer, since they eliminated the Brewers in Game 4 of the NLCS a week ago, polishing off a dominant NLCS sweep.
As always, DraftKings Sportsbook has all your betting needs covered for the World Series. There are hundreds of prop bets available, but let’s look at a few of my favorite options from Game 1.
Dodgers vs. Blue Jays Prop Bets for Game 1
Trey Yesavage over 5.5 strikeouts (+116)
Both starting pitchers in this matchup have been strikeout machines in the postseason. The Blue Jays have been excellent at strikeout suppression all season, so rather than back Blake Snell to go against that trend, I’d rather roll with Yesavage to get at least six strikeouts against the Dodgers.
Yesavage started the year all the way down in Single-A Dunedin where he had 55 strikeouts in 33 ⅓ innings. In Double-A, he had 46 strikeouts in 30 innings, and in Triple-A, he had 26 strikeouts in 17 ⅓ innings. Once he arrived in the majors, he had 16 strikeouts in 14 innings, but in the postseason, he has picked his strikeout rate back up with 22 punchouts in 15 innings.
In his last start in Game 6, he had seven strikeouts in 5⅔ innings against the Mariners, and he had 11 strikeouts against the Yankees in the ALDS. Yesavage’s stuff is definitely outstanding, and he’s proven that he can pitch on the biggest stage.
He’ll look to add to his growing legend in this matchup against the Dodgers, who had a 21.9% K% this season. They averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game this year, while the Blue Jays only struck out 6.8 times per game.
Especially with so much time off, the Dodgers bats could come out a little rusty, so whether he ends up with a dominant start that earns him a win or not, I think Yesavage will be able to get at least six strikeouts, and I love getting this player prop at plus money.
Teoscar Hernandez Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (-105)
When Yesavage has had trouble, it’s normally been against right-handed hitters, which is why I’m attacking Hernandez’s HRR (hits + runs + RBI) line in Game 1.
It’s a homecoming of sorts for Hernandez, who played parts of six seasons for the Blue Jays after he was traded to Toronto for Francisco Liriano back in 2017. After a one-year stop in Seattle, Hernandez has played the last two seasons for the Dodgers. The 33-year-old hit .247 this year with 25 homers, 89 RBI, and a .315 wOBA.
He had an average of 2.1 HRR during the regular season and has produced an average of 2.7 HRR in the playoffs. He had multiple HRR in two of the four games against the Brewers, two of the four games against the Phillies, and both of the games against the Reds.
Yesavage held lefties to a .161 batting average during the regular season while righties hit .333 against him. It’s a tiny sample size, but it’s one of the reasons why I like Hernandez at basically even money to get multiple HRR in Game 1.
He’s been one of the Dodgers’ postseason heroes so far this postseason and hit safely in all five games in the World Series last year as well. He isn’t as big a name as Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman or Mookie Betts, but I love the value he brings in this player prop bet for Game 1.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 2+ Total Bases (+127)
Along with Yesavage and George Springer, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been the Blue Jays postseason hero this season. He didn’t finish the season hot at the plate, but he caught fire as soon as the playoffs began. In his 11 games this postseason, Vlad has hit a scalding .442 (19-for-43), with three doubles, six homers, and 40 total bases.
He’s averaging 3.6 total bases per game in the postseason and has had 2+ total bases in seven of his 11 contests (64%).
Guerrero is 2-for-11 with three walks against Blake Snell in his career, but one of those hits was a double. All he needs is a double to deliver on this 2+ total bases prop at plus money. If you’re looking for something with more risk, you can ladder up Guerrero’s total bases with 3+ total bases at +233, 4+ total bases at +308, and even 5+ total bases at +650 if you really think Vladdy is poised to go off. He’s already had six games this postseason of 5+ total bases, so it’s not impossible even in a tough matchup against Snell.
