Matchweek nine of the Premier League has arrived and one of the games on Saturday’s slate sees Chelsea host newly promoted Sunderland.

Chelsea vs. Sunderland Prediction, Pick
Sunderland are having a dream start to their first Premier League season since 2016/17. They currently sit seventh in the table, recording 14 points in only eight games. Who knows how long they can sustain it, but their odds of not getting relegated are getting better by the day. They sit above teams like Man United, Aston Villa and Newcastle in the table. Impressive. As I’ve said, it’s been an unbelievable start for Sunderland, but they’ve only faced one traditional “Big 6” team. That was Man United, and they lost 2-0. They won’t be too worried about losing to the big teams if they continue to pick up points against the sides in the bottom half of the table.
Chelsea sit fifth, only ahead of the Black Cats on goal difference. The Blues have come into form in the last few weeks and are riding a four-game win streak in all competitions. In 12 games in all competitions this season, they have won seven of those, and three or more goals have been scored nine times. Chelsea have scored 16 goals in the Premier League this season, which is the second most, only trailing Man City with 17. Their Premier League form hasn’t been great, only winning four of eight games, but they have won two in a row and I’d be shocked if they didn’t make it three on Saturday.
I like this one to be a back-and-forth affair, but Chelsea should have too much quality for Sunderland.
