Whether your pick lost in Week 7 or you just didn’t get the chance to join a survivor pool, you can join this survivor pool. In this survivor pool, you need to pick a team to win straight-up every week. However, once you use a team, you cannot use it again. You are eliminated from the pool if one of your picks loses. The players who survive the regular season without losing will split the grand prize of at least $50,000.
Week 8 Survivor Best Pick
Colts over Titans
Every week, there is speculation that it might be time for the Colts to come back to Earth. However, Daniel Jones and company just keep winning football games. Their only loss came in a one-score road game against the Rams, nothing to be ashamed of. The reason they have avoided a bad week is because of how sharp they are on both sides of the ball. There have been games where the defense has struggled, but the offense is there to pick them up, and vice versa. The Colts rank 11th in the NFL in defensive EPA/play and first in offensive EPA/play. This is the best offense in football, and barring a complete disaster, the Titans can’t score with them. Cam Ward is really struggling, Brian Callahan has been fired and the Titans rank 32nd in the NFL in offensive EPA/play. When the best offense in the league faces the worst offense in the league at home, they are a home run survivor pick for anyone yet to use the Colts.
Week 8 Survivor Bold Pick
Ravens over Bears
The Ravens are hoping to get Lamar Jackson this week. At 1-5, they are in a massive hole, but there is an outside chance of making the postseason if they can turn back into the 2024 Ravens. The Ravens are coming off a bye week, where John Harbaugh and his staff had a chance to adjust to what has gone so wrong to start this season. If Jackson returns this week, the Ravens could be the most motivated team in the NFL. The Bears are starting to look really sharp under Ben Johnson, winning four games ahead of this one. That being said, those wins have come against the Saints, Raiders, Commanders and Cowboys. None of those teams is nearly as capable as the Ravens if Lamar Jackson were playing quarterback. It’s worth waiting for more news on Jackson, but if he plays, the Ravens are a great contrarian pick for survivor pools this week.
Week 8 Survivor Favorite to Avoid
Eagles over Giants
One favorite that I would not back in survivor pools this week is the Eagles. After losing back-to-back games, the Eagles got a nice road win over the Vikings to get back on track. However, I generally look to avoid divisional games in survivor pools. If it’s a home run pick, like the Colts this week, it’s worth a play. However, there is so much familiarity in these divisional games that it makes it more likely for an upset. That could not have been more evident than when these teams faced each other just a couple of weeks ago, when the Giants dominated the Eagles. New York has looked great since switching to Jaxson Dart. It took a meltdown of epic proportions for the Giants to lose to a Broncos team that just beat the Eagles. Philadelphia should learn from its first loss to the Giants and make some major adjustments. However, the Giants are an underdog I would not test and the Eagles are a favorite I would not trust, making this the game to avoid this week in survivor pools.
