The Los Angeles Chargers are in the thick of the AFC West race, and Justin Herbert is doing everything he can to keep them in it. The NFL leader in passing attempts and passing yards, Herbert is truly putting the team on his back. Facing a strong Vikings defense on Thursday night, the 27-year-old will have to play Superman once again if they want to win.
The Chargers are three-point favorites for this one, with the Vikings listed as +145 underdogs on the moneyline. The points total is set at 44.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook. Below is my favorite Herbert prop bet for Thursday’s game.

This Minnesota Vikings’ secondary has been their strength. On the season, Minnesota is allowing the seventh-fewest passing yards, led by their star corner Byron Murphy. It’s kept them in games through a struggle period with the offense, where an injured JJ McCarthy has been replaced by Carson Wentz. It’ll be another night where their secondary needs to keep a lid on things so the offense has a chance.
Against Herbert and this crop of playmakers, I don’t know how much of a chance they have. But one thing that works to their advantage is the absence of running back Omarion Hampton. Without their first-round pick, Los Angeles struggled to move the ball on the ground last week. They can afford to get away with a light box and commit more personnel to the passing game.
Still, the air volume will be there for Herbert. After tossing for 420 yards last week against the Colts with solid efficiency, another 30-35 attempt game is in the cards. With that kind of workload, the Chargers quarterback can put up some lofty numbers.
