It’s been a strange season for the Minnesota Vikings. They made significant changes in the offseason after a disappointing playoff exit and placed their faith in a new quarterback, JJ McCarthy. But with McCarthy sidelined, they’ve turned to Carson Wentz to steer the ship, yielding a middle-of-the-pack 3-3 record. Now they’ll rely on the former Pro Bowler to guide them to victory against the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.
The Chargers are 3.5-point favorites for this one on DraftKings Sportsbook, with the Vikings listed as +145 underdogs on the moneyline. The total is set at 44.5 points.
Below is my favorite Wentz prop bet for the TNF matchup.
Best Carson Wentz Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Things have not been fun for Wentz in recent weeks. Their 28-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was his second multi-interception game in three weeks. Wentz himself was the most astute critic of his performance after the close loss to his former team.
Things aren’t going to get any easier against this Chargers’ secondary. Los Angeles is ninth-best in yards allowed per pass attempt, eighth in total passing yards, and eighth in total interceptions. That’s a tough formula for a Minnesota passing offense that is struggling, even with star receiver Justin Jefferson continuing to look incredible.
It would be a layup to place a bet on Wentz to throw one interception. I think we should get a little frisky here. When Wentz falls apart, it’s not just a blip here and there — it’s a torrential firestorm of mistakes. Another meltdown could be on the cards on Thursday night as Wentz fights hard to keep the starting job. I’m taking the long shot and betting Wentz to throw the ball to at least two Chargers.
