WR Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Picks: Fantasy Football Wide Receivers to Start or Sit in Week 8

WR Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Picks: Fantasy Football Wide Receivers to Start or Sit in Week 8

Updated:

By: Jeff Pratt

Almost halfway through the 2025 NFL season, QB-WR rapports, target shares and more have been established among the league’s receiving corps. With all of that in mind, let’s break down my WR start/sit Week 8 fantasy football picks.

Check out my full Week 8 start/sit article with picks at each position here!

Start ‘Em: Romeo Doubs (Packers) at Steelers

Emerging as Jordan Love’s top receiver due to a myriad of injuries, Doubs has quietly turned into one of the steadiest receivers in the NFL this year. The 25-year-old has received an 85% snap share or higher in three straight outings, seeing at least eight targets in all of those games.

Over that stretch, we’ve seen Doubs’ ceiling and floor, as he racked up three touchdowns in Week 4 and 10.5 fantasy points on five catches for 55 yards. That steady volume with obvious upside puts Doubs firmly in high-end fantasy WR2 territory.

This week, Green Bay draws a favorable matchup against the Steelers, who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to receivers so far in 2025. Doubs should be fired up confidently in starting lineups across all leagues.

Sit ‘Em: Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins) at Falcons

After Tyreek Hill suffered a season-ending injury, Waddle assumed the role of undisputed top receiver for the Dolphins. The problem? Their passing game hasn’t exactly been firing on all cylinders this season.

Following back-to-back outings with 15-plus fantasy points, the speedster came back down to earth against Cleveland. Waddle only saw four targets, catching one of them for 15 yards.

It won’t get any easier for Miami this week against the NFL’s best pass defense. Atlanta is allowing the fewest passing yards (141.2) per game and the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers. With the Dolphins flailing fresh off a 31-6 defeat to the Browns, it’s hard to have any confidence in a bounce-back performance for Waddle.

Start ‘Em: DJ Moore (Bears) at Ravens

Moore has struggled to get rolling despite the Bears’ improved offense under Ben Johnson. While the star receiver has seen at least a 76% snap share in every contest, he has managed to eclipse the double-digit fantasy point mark just once. The emergence of Rome Odunze has played a huge part on Moore’s dip in production, but there’s reason for optimism that he could finally break out against Baltimore.

To say the Ravens are struggling would be an understatement. At 1-5, they are clearly the most disappointing team of the 2025 season so far. With Lamar Jackson expected to return from injury this week, the offense should get back on track, but the other side of the ball has been a huge issue as well. Baltimore is surrendering the fifth-most fantasy points and receiving yards per game, setting up a prime opportunity for Moore to return to elite form.

Sit ‘Em: Kendrick Bourne (49ers) at Texans

The Kendrick Bourne WR1 experience has passed, and what a moment it was. For two games, the 30-year-old receiver looked like one of the top weapons in the game. However, all good things must come to an end, and that’s exactly what happened when Bourne took the field Sunday night and caught just two balls for 14 yards, despite seeing a 78% snap share.

Bourne and Mac Jones had relied on their rapport from the New England days against the Rams and Bucs, but Jauan Jennings finally returned to his role as the No. 1 healthy Niners wideout against Atlanta, with Christian McCaffrey serving as the true top receiver.

It won’t get any easier for Bourne against Houston. The Texans surrender the fifth-fewest passing yards and fantasy points to receivers. With Ricky Pearsall also nearing a return, Bourne’s brief window of fantasy opportunity is shutting.

Start ‘Em: Jordan Addison (Vikings) at Chargers — Thursday Night Football

Move over Justin Jefferson… there’s a new No. 1 receiver in Minnesota.

Alright, jokes aside, Addison out-targeted and outproduced one of the top-two wideouts in the NFL against Philly, hauling in nine of 12 targets for 128 yards. With the Eagles laser-focused on containing Jefferson, Addison made the most of his one-on-one opportunities, serving as Carson Wentz’s go-to guy.

This was the third-straight performance in which Addison recorded at least 15 PPR points since returning from suspension. With his snap share jumping well above 90% in two of those contests, it’s easy to see who the clear No. 2 target for the Vikings is (sorry T.J. Hockenson fans).

The Chargers boast one of the better pass defenses in football, but if locking in on Jefferson is the gameplan, Addison will burn them too. Fire up the 23-year-old as a strong WR2 on Thursday.
