Miami Heat vs. Orlando Magic prediction, pick on Wednesday 10/22/25

This Florida tandem of teams has been a playoff fixture for the better part of the 21st century. Both the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat were consigned to the play-in last season and will be hoping for more in a wide-open Eastern Conference. Now they’ll do battle to set the tone for their 2025-26 season.

The Magic are 8.5-point home favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. They’re priced at -375 on the moneyline, while the Heat are +295 road underdogs. The total for this game is set at 217.5 points. Let’s get into my preview, prediction, and pick for this Magic vs. Heat game.

Heat vs. Magic prediction, preview

Orlando got the offseason started before the NBA Finals had even ended. After an injury-riddled 2024/25 season cratered their offense, getting a real shooter in the building was first, second, and third priority in the early going. They got that out of the way by adding Desmond Bane, a lights-out shooter.

A healthy season from Jalen Suggs, Bane, Franz Wagner, and Paolo Banchero could produce some incredible results. With a deep cast of role players and a sound defense created by head coach Jamahl Mosley, they can make a lot of noise in the East.

Miami’s chances aren’t quite the same now that Jimmy Butler is gone. There’s some functional size on the team, and a lot of defense between Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, Davion Mitchell, and Kel’el Ware. But Erik Spoelstra’s task is to generate consistent offense with this group. That will only be tested further while Tyler Herro is out.

It should be a nasty defensive battle in Orlando. Will the Magic’s offensive talents win out, or can Spo and this defense wear them down?

Heat vs. Magic pick, best bet

It’s difficult to pick against Miami. Erik Spoelstra always comes out with something on defense that confuses opposing offenses. They’ve got defenders up and down the lineup to gum up the works. Plus, Orlando needs to work out the kinks of a new starting lineup. It may end in an Orlando victory, but Miami can drag this game down into the mud.

Best Bet: Under 217.5 Total Points (-108)
