Spurs PG De’Aaron Fox has been ruled out for the season opener on Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks with a hamstring injury. This is not an unexpected absence, as he has been dealing with this issue throughout the offseason. Fox is expected to miss the first few games of the season and could be available to return at the start of November. Kelly Olynyk, Jeremy Sochan and Lindy Waters III have also been ruled out for this game for San Antonio.
The Spurs went with the same starting five in each of their last two preseason games. Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, Julian Champagnie and Victor Wembanyama. PG Jordan McLaughlin is also an option off the bench. It will be interesting to see what the lineup looks like on Wednesday night, but the Spurs will hope that whoever fills in for Fox can do an admirable job for the first few games of the season. Once Fox enters the fray, San Antonio should be one of the most exciting young teams in the league.
