The NBA is BACK with a pair of juicy matchups to tip off the regular season this Tuesday, and the stars will be ready to roll in these spotlight contests. Kevin Durant will lead his new Houston Rockets squad up against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first game of the day, before the Golden State Warriors come down the coast to face the Los Angeles Lakers in the nightcap. One of the best ways to hit player props each day is to check out the options available for players’ Points + Rebounds + Assists. Taking a look at the expected production and matchups this Tuesday, my top three plays from this group are from Kevin Durant, Jabari Smith Jr. and Rui Hachimura.
Commonly known as “PRA” (Points + Rebounds + Assists), the options in this market lean towards players who stuff the stat sheet in multiple categories. It can serve as a safer pick than focusing on just one category, since players can compensate for a bad shooting night by dishing out more assists or grabbing more rebounds. DraftKings Sportsbook offers a wide variety of player props on the board from the four teams on the board, and PRA are one of my favorite ways to regularly pick player props. I typically try to find a good balance of value plays and combine them into a parlay along with using them in round robins to avoid one player ruining the slate.
Breaking down the numbers and matchups, here is why I like these three points + rebounds + assists prop bets on Tuesday night.
Top Points + Rebounds + Assists prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Chet Holmgren 26+ points + rebounds + assists (-119)
Holmgren is healthy to start the season after dealing with shoulder soreness early in training camp. He had nine points, six rebounds and three assists (18 PRA) in 19 minutes in his preseason debut on Friday and should be ready to carry a typical workload as the season begins.
With Jalen Williams (wrist) inactive, Holmgren will step in as the secondary scoring option behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Holmgren played five games without Williams last year, averaging 18 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists for 28.8 PRA. Holmgren has also averaged 26 PRA in his seven career games against the Rockets, including four of his last six. In one of his down games, he only played 18 minutes as the Thunder rested their stars.
As they celebrate their title and raise the banner, look for Chet and SGA to both be fired up, but I love getting these odds at a PRA prop at such a low number.
Jabari Smith Jr. 20+ points + rebounds + assists (-109)
I mentioned Jabari Smith Jr. as one of my top 3-point props earlier today, but I love attacking his PRA prop as well. Smith has looked excellent in the preseason while taking on a larger scoring role. He had 21 PRA in 24 minutes and 32 PRA in 22 minutes in his last two preseason games, and he should be ready for a normal starter’s workload to begin the season.
The Rockets are expected to go with a gigantic starting five that includes Smith, and it will be interesting to see how the rotation works with so much size in the lineup.
Durant’s arrival could unlock more scoring opportunities for Smith Jr., who already averaged 19.4 PRA last season. He’s still only 22 years old, and the No. 3 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft seems poised to take a big step forward this season.
Taking him at around even money to deliver 20+ PRA feels like a relatively safe level. You can use this as a ladder play as well if you want to be more aggressive. Smith at 25+ points + rebounds + assists comes in at a juicy +262, and 30+ is even longer odds at +700. The 30+ is a reach to be sure, but if you want a high-risk, longshot PRA to consider, he’d definitely be one of my favorites.
Austin Reaves 35+ points + rebounds + assists (+132)
Without LeBron James (sciatica), the Lakers will rely more heavily on Reaves and Luka Doncic to carry the load on offense. His shot was off in his final preseason game last Friday, but he looked just fine in his earlier contests, so I’m fine just chalking it up as an outlier.
Reaves played nine games without LeBron last season, averaging 42.1 PRA in those matchups. However, that number is skewed high by a few games that he played without Luka as well. In the five games he played with Luka and without LeBron, he still averaged 38 PRA, though, so 35 PRA is definitely within the realm of possibility for him in this matchup.
He and Luka will have some help, for sure, but with more of the offensive workload to carry, they both should have healthy stat lines at home if this game stays competitive throughout.
