Two elite defenses go head-to-head, and as the Texans look to win their third straight game, a return to stardom for quarterback C.J. The Texans’ offense sputtered to begin the 2025 season but finally began to hit its stride over the last two games before the team’s bye week. After failing to crack 20 points in the first three contests of the year, Houston scored 26 against the Titans before hanging 44 on the Ravens. The unit showed much-needed signs of life with a productive aerial attack in both of those outings, but the question of whether they’ve truly gained momentum is yet to be answered. After a bye in Week 6 to work out some kinks in new coordinator Nick Caley’s scheme, the Texans need every bit of growth they can get on that side of the ball headed into a tough matchup.
It’s been a tough season for C.J. Stroud this year overall, though. He’s completed 70.8% of his passes for just 1,076 yards and eight touchdowns to three interceptions… but prior to the last two wins over poor teams, the quarterback had tossed just two touchdowns and failed to go over 207 passing yards in a single contest. Working behind a turnstile offensive line certainly doesn’t help, so it was quite encouraging to see Stroud finally look more like himself prior to the bye week. Now, Houston will need its young signal-caller to step up — while the Seahawks boast a great run defense, they actually fall 22nd in defensive EPA/pass, 27th in total passing yards allowed, 25th in completion percentage allowed, and 23rd in passing touchdowns conceded (10). The Texans should attack through the air in this contest due to the matchup, especially with cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) also questionable.

Given the matchup against the Seattle secondary and the fact their front seven limits opponents to the third-fewest rushing yards per game, Stroud’s yardage prop feels like an appropriate pick tonight. While he’s only exceeded the line of 226.5 yards once this season, tonight provides a prime opportunity to air the ball out. The Seahawks give up 235.5 passing yards per game on average and the Texans certainly know they can pick on that weakness. While Houston’s own defense remains one of the NFL’s better units, they’re facing an elite offense with a tendency to hit explosive plays and could very well end up in a pass-happy game script.
