It’s been a great start to the season for both the Montreal Canadiens and the Seattle Kraken. Both teams came into the season with hopes of getting into the playoff mix once things really heat up later in the year. Based on the start, so far, so good. Now the two will test their mettle against one another.

The Canadiens have the edge at -162 on the Moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook, while the Kraken are listed at +136. The total is set at 5.5 goals. Let’s get into a preview, prediction, and pick for this matchup between the Canadiens and Kraken.

Canadiens vs. Kraken preview, prediction

It’s been a perfect start for the Seattle Kraken. They took care of business against the Ducks in their first game, and followed that up with a massive victory over the Vegas Golden Knights. The big news early is that Matty Beniers and Jared McCann are putting up the points while the defense holds things down in a big way.

Things didn’t start as ideally for the Canadiens, as they lost on their opening night. However, they bounced back with two straight wins, and the offense looked explosive. And, very importantly, they locked up another young core piece to a long-term deal.

Nick Suzuki, Kaiden Ghule, Juraj Slafkovsky, Cole Caufield, and Noah Dobson are now all locked up alongside reigning Calder winner Lane Hutson through 2030. After that young core fueled their playoff appearance last season, the hopes are high in Montreal that many more are on the horizon.

Canadiens vs. Kraken pick, best bet

It’s going to be a battle between talented forward groups and offensive-minded defensemen. Seattle has a potent formula, fueled by Vince Dunn setting things up from the blue line, and Beniers doing a lot of the zone creation. But this Canadiens team looks potent up and down, and possesses a lot more offensive firepower in their second and third lines. That depth will carry Montreal to victory.

Best Bet: Montreal Canadiens -1.5 (+160)
