Despite missing two of his best wide receivers for much of the 2025 season, Baker Mayfield is having an MVP-type year. Mike Evans has only featured in three of six games for Tampa Bay, while Chris Godwin has played in two. Even their rookie phenom Emeka Egbuka went down in the Buccaneers’ Week 6 win over the 49ers, but it didn’t matter. Baker Mayfield is making wideouts down the depth chart like Tez Johnson and Kameron Johnson look like stars.
It doesn’t matter who’s out there; Mayfield is making plays. Tampa Bay has a 5-1 record and Mayfield has the third-lowest MVP odds at +350 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
He is ranked highly in most of the major passing statistics through six weeks, as he is top 10 among quarterbacks in passing yards, passing touchdowns, yards per attempt, passer rating and QBR. Mayfield has thrown 12 touchdowns to only one interception this season, and has also added 158 yards rushing. All the statistics point to one of the best players in the league, and a potential MVP.
Life is good in Tampa Bay, and life is also good for Baker Mayfield fantasy managers. While he isn’t quite the top fantasy quarterback on DraftKings after Week 6, he ranks fourth among signal callers with 129.4 FPTS. He trails Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Dak Prescott at the moment. Among all fantasy players, the former #1 overall pick ranks 10th in fantasy scoring.
Whether or not he can close the gap on the three quarterbacks in front of him remains to be seen, but Mayfield owners will definitely be more than happy with how he’s produced this season. It hasn’t been an up-and-down season for him fantasy-wise, but rather he’s been consistent week after week, hovering in the range of 20 FPTS in every game. His lowest total this season was in Week 3 against the Jets, where he still put up a respectable 17.7 FPTS.
While he may not be the very best fantasy QB right now, Mayfield is certainly hanging around with the best and looks like he’s poised to stay there.
