If Garrett Wilson misses Week 7 vs. the Panthers, start Mason Taylor in fantasy football

UPDATE: Wilson is expected to miss a couple of weeks.

Garrett Wilson ($6,500) is currently dealing with a knee injury after this past Sunday’s loss to the Broncos and Jets’ head coach Aaron Glenn told the media he will provide an update on Wilson this coming Wednesday.

“But it’s always concerning when you lose one of your better players” wasn’t an encouraging comment from Glenn and if Wilson sits this Sunday vs. the Panthers, there will be a ton of usage left behind by the receiver. Wilson ranks fourth in the NFL in target share this season (34.2%) and if he is inactive, Mason Taylor ($3,400) should be the primary beneficiary for New York.

Behind only Wilson, Taylor ranks second in target share (17.7%) and route rate for the Jets this season (78%). If Wilson is out this Sunday, Taylor would likely operate as Justin Fields’ ($5,700) main pass catcher with a target share over 20%. Plus, this is a compelling matchup for tight ends, as Carolina’s zone-heavy defense is allowing the most receiving yards to the position this season (444).

Taylor has scored double-digit FPTS in two of his last three games and if Wilson is sidelined this Sunday, Taylor would have a ceiling near 20 FPTS and he would be one of the best values for the Week 7 main slate on DraftKings at only $3,400.

With Wilson’s injury, the Jets are a 1.5-point underdog to the Panthers on DraftKings Sportsbook.
