Zach Ertz is coming off his worst game of the season in Week 5, recording no catches on one target. While I don’t expect him to have a similar performance on Monday against Chicago, it definitely casts doubt over how involved he will be in the passing game moving forward.
The Commanders are 5.5-point favorites for this one, with the Bears +200 underdogs on the moneyline. The points total is set at O/U 49.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Nobody likes taking under prop bets, but sometimes it’s the only play. Ertz has only gone over this total in one of five games this season, and as mentioned earlier, he is coming off a game in which he recorded only one target. Ertz should be more involved this week against a Bears defense that ranks 18th in the NFL against the pass, allowing 215 yards per game. Four or more receptions seems like a stretch, however, as he only has 14 catches in five games, averaging out to 2.8 per contest.
The former Philadelphia Eagle is coming off a season in which he recorded 654 receiving yards and seven scores, but this season hasn’t quite been as fruitful so far.
Part of the reason why could be the amount of options Washington has in the passing game. 13 different Commanders players have been targeted already this season, with seven of those players seeing at least five balls go their way. You would think that the absence of Terry McLaurin would lead to more targets for the tight end, but Ertz has gone under this total in both games that McLaurin has missed so far. That could change on Monday, but I wouldn’t count on it.
He has gone under this total in four of five games, and while I expect him to be a factor in the passing game in Week 6, he will likely go under this number for the fifth time this season.
