Croskey-Merritt received his biggest workload of the season in Week 5, as his 14 carries were a season high. He averaged a whopping 7.9 yards per carry, making great use of his increased volume. If you are Washington, you have to go back to the well here with the rookie and feed him again. They are facing a Chicago team that can’t stop a nosebleed in the running department, ranking 31st in the NFL while allowing 164.5 yards per game.
It wasn’t just a great Week 5 performance from the young rook, but he’s been solid overall this season. The former Arizona Wildcat has carried 43 times for 283 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 6.6 yards per carry. He hasn’t been a huge threat in the passing game but has chipped in five catches for 54 yards. Washington might have been slowly easing him into life as an NFL player to start his career, but Week 5 felt like they finally took the handbrake off. I expect a similar output on Monday against a porous Bears rushing defense.
Croskey-Merritt has hit the over on this rushing total in two games so far this season, and it’s no coincidence that those were the only two games in which he received double-digit carries. If Bill gets fed the rock on Monday, he should reach the over on this number with ease.
