Tennessee Volunteers vs. Arkansas Razorbacks prediction, pick for CFB Week 7 on Saturday 10/11/25

Neyland Stadium crackles before kickoff, and Tennessee’s pulse quickens for payback. Arkansas arrives with interim coach Bobby Petrino and a taste for chaos, but the home crowd smells a reckoning under the lights. Both teams come off open weeks, legs fresh, schemes sharpened. Tennessee survived consecutive overtime SEC grinders before the bye. Arkansas spent its pause retooling after a three-game slide. The identities clash immediately: Arkansas chases a track meet, Tennessee hunts a statement. Below is my prediction for CFB Week 7’s game between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Tennesee vs. Arkansas prediction, preview

The early moments show Arkansas’s big-play appetite. This offense leads the SEC at 7.7 yards per play, and quarterback Taylen Green, a rangy junior with a 155.1 efficiency rating and 8.2 yards per carry, breaks contain for a jolt. Petrino uncorks a flea-flicker for a 40-yard strike, and the underdog lands first. The roar wakes the building in orange. Tennessee’s counterattack arrives swift and clinical. Quarterback Joey Aguilar steadies after an early pick—his fifth of the season, with only one truly turnover-worthy—and starts carving Arkansas’s soft zones. The Hogs own defensive rankings of 122nd in EPA per play allowed and 112th in success rate, and those wounds reopen. Tennessee moves the sticks because Arkansas allows third-down conversions at 47.9%, the nation’s worst. Even 3rd-and-long doesn’t bite: opponents have hit 46% on 3rd-and-8+, almost double the ~24% norm. A 3rd-and-12 draw rips 15 yards and breaks Arkansas’s posture.

Tennessee’s defense adjusts to Green’s glide. A shiny 2.8 yards-per-carry allowed figure disguises a leaky core; the Vols rank 115th in rushing success rate and have yielded 3.6 yards per carry to each SEC foe, with three rushing touchdowns allowed in both league games. Arkansas leans into zone-read keepers and powers Rashod Dubinion downhill. Just as the Hogs cross midfield, a strip-sack flips the possession and the mood. Havoc favors the Vols; Arkansas sits outside the top 110 in takeaways and defensive success rate, and desperation creeps in.

The orange tempo then starts to sing. Aguilar layers play-action and RPOs behind a sturdy front. Wide receiver Chris Brazzell II, already at 531 receiving yards and a nation-leading seven touchdown grabs, becomes the metronome. Inside the red zone he has five catches, four touchdowns, and that trust translates to a contested 18-yard score. Arkansas’s pass defense ranks 110th at 257 yards allowed per game, and those seams widen as fatigue nips at leverage. Tennessee’s earlier sloppiness fades; drops vanish, drives finish.

Arkansas vs. Tennessee pick, best bet

Arkansas counters with haymakers. Taylen Green launches a moon-shot to O’Mega Blake for 50, echoing a profile that produces roughly seven plays of 20+ yards per game. Red-zone polish shows too: 17 touchdowns on 19 trips keep the Hogs’ sideline buzzing. Yet Tennessee answers every surge. Running back DeSean Bishop, living near 7.0 yards per carry, slices through arm tackles and sets up rhythmic throws. Third down remains the fulcrum. The Vols entered converting 52% (16th nationally) and keep stranding Arkansas’s defense. By the fourth quarter, Tennessee has stacked 70+ snaps and stretched the gap with pace and body-blows. The stadium thrums; revenge feels inevitable.

Counterargument, then the rebuttal: Arkansas’s explosiveness and Green’s legs can stress Tennessee’s run fits. The Hogs also finish in the red area at a ruthless clip. But those advantages dissolve when you cannot exit the field. A defense permitting 47.9% on third down and 46% on 3rd-and-8+ hands opponents extra lives, and Tennessee exploits every one. Tennessee’s offense averages 51.0 points per game, and Arkansas’s defense bleeds efficiency at every level. The Volunteers’ situational edge on money downs overwhelms the Hogs’ splash plays.

Joey Aguilar will weaponize third down. His intermediate accuracy and tempo control will grind Arkansas’s conversion weakness into late-game oxygen for Tennessee, while Brazzell’s red-zone dominance will tilt the final two possessions.

Final score projection: Tennessee 45, Arkansas 30.

Best bet: Tennessee -10 (-115) vs. Arkansas
