The new NHL season is in full swing and kicks off the weekend with a massive 16-game slate that sees every team across the league in action. With Jets vs. Kings starting up at 1:30 p.m. EST and matchups throughout the day leading up to the 10 p.m. EST start for the three final outings, there’s something for every single fan and bettor on deck.

David Pastrnak 2+ points (+130)
The Bruins’ top-line winger got off to a hot start to his season with two goals and an assist in his first outing of the year before notching an assist in his second game. David Pastrnak is an awesome talent who impacts the game in a variety of ways… and Boston looks quite solid through their first two outings with wins over the Capitals and Blackhawks. The star tallied multiple points in 29 games last year and two of four games against the Sabres, who he faces on Saturday. Pastrnak’s averaging three shots a game and heads into a soft matchup with some momentum on his team’s side, so whether he scores himself or a dishes to a teammate, there’s a solid chance he racks up a pair of points here.
Kevin Fiala over 2.5 shots on goal (-130)
The Kings got smacked 4-1 by the Avs to open the season but responded with a 6-5 win over a stacked Golden Knights squad on the second leg of a back-to-back. Kevin Fiala’s logged a pair of points with one goal and one assist thus far, but he could play a key role on Saturday against the Jets to open the slate. He’s posted four shots across his first two games with three in one game and one in the other, but he averaged 3.1 per contest last year. Over that 87-game sample (including playoffs), Fiala took at least three shots on 50 occasions. He’ll need to regain that kind of aggressiveness for Los Angeles to keep things competitive against Winnipeg. I’m banking on the winger to make an impact on the second line here and go over 2.5 shots as a solid value.
Sam Reinhart anytime goalscorer (+155)
The Panthers are operating without two of their first-liners with Aleksander Barkov out for the year and Matthew Tkachuk set to miss plenty of time while recovering from surgery. In the meantime, Sam Reinhart assumes a larger role as a top-line winger. The former No. 2 pick hasn’t scored yet in two games, but he logged three shots in each and is due to find the net soon. He scored 39 goals in 79 games last year and 57 in the season prior, so we’ve seen how effective he can be at putting the biscuit in the net. A matchup with Linus Ullmark (.840 SV% with four goals allowed to start the year) sets Reinhart up for success. While he’s the favorite to score in this contest against the Senators, the odds are worth snagging here for sure. It’s only a matter of time.
