Two Big Ten teams ranked inside the AP Poll’s top ten are set to clash this weekend. #7 Indiana has been an early surprise, emerging as a dark horse national title contender. If the Hoosiers have any dreams of winning the Big Ten, they’ll need a victory over #3 Oregon. Both schools, thanks to their star quarterbacks, are capable of putting up points in a hurry.

Elijah Sarratt 76+ receiving yards (-111)
Indiana finally played its first close game of the season two weeks ago, a 20-15 win over Iowa. Even with that close call, the Hoosiers have won by a whopping average margin of 38.2 points. Against a Big Ten schedule, that level of dominance isn’t sustainable for any school. Saturday’s contest, as road underdogs vs. a top-three school, could go very different. If IU finds itself trailing, that means more passes from Fernando Mendoza. The NFL-bound quarterback has impressed this season, throwing for 1,208 yards and 16 touchdowns.
There’s no easy way to defend this Indiana passing game. Wide receivers Elijah Sarratt and Omar Cooper Jr. have put up terrific numbers, with each posting over 400 yards and six touchdowns. The former has operated as more of a possession receiver, leading the team with 31 receptions. In comparison, a deep threat such as Cooper Jr. could struggle. Oregon is allowing the second-fewest yards per pass attempt in college football. Expect Mendoza to target his most trusted pass catcher early and often in this one. A talented, but inexperienced, Ducks secondary could struggle to defend the senior this afternoon.
Dante Moore 241+ passing yards (-117)
Speaking of superstar quarterbacks, Dante Moore is making a strong Heisman trophy push. Through five games, the sophomore has thrown for 1,210 yards and 14 touchdowns to just one interception. On the ground, he’s picked up 122 additional yards. Supported by a talented running game, it’s been difficult for opponents to slow down Oregon’s talented passer.
In Moore’s toughest test of the season, Week 5 vs. Penn State, he managed to throw for 248 yards and three touchdowns on 74.4% passing. That level of efficiency, combined with zero turnovers, is something most QBs would struggle to produce at Happy Valley. With respect to an improved Indiana defense, a home game at Autzen Stadium is a bit less difficult. In this battle against Mendoza, Oregon will need to put points on the board. Rather than lean on their run game, the Ducks should let Moore sling it downfield. At just 241 yards, this line feels reasonable.
