The UFC is hosting its 40th event in Brazil this Saturday! This week, the UFC is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for a UFC Fight Night headlined by one of the greatest Brazilian fighters in UFC history, No. 4 Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira, who is taking on No. 8 Mateusz Gamrot. This is the 13th UFC event to take place in Rio de Janeiro, with the last event held in this city being UFC 301 in May 2024.
Oliveira, 35, is returning just three months after being knocked out by Ilia Topuria at UFC 317 in June. From 2018 to 2022, Oliveira won 11 straight fights with 10 finishes, including three title wins. But since October 2022, Oliveira has gone 2-3 while being finished twice. At 35 years old, this could be the last stand for “Do Bronx” if he wants to continue competing at the highest level.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Oliveira is a slight underdog at -105, while Gamrot is a -115 favorite. Gamrot has won four of his previous five contests, with his lone loss coming against Dan Hooker via split decision in August 2024. Gamrot beat Ludovit Klein in his last bout in May.
Another former UFC Brazilian Champion looking to get back on track is No. 6 Deiveson Figueiredo, who takes on No. 15 Montel Jackson. Figueiredo’s run in the Bantamweight division started well, as he won three straight fights. But since then, he has lost two consecutive bouts, including a loss via KO/TKO against Cory Sandhagen in his last bout in May.
Figueiredo is nearing his 38th birthday and must turn things around to keep his dream of becoming a two-division champion alive. But he has a tough test in front of him with Jackson, who has won six consecutive fights. Jackson is a -325 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook as Figueiredo is a +260 underdog.
